Econ Forum: Isn't deflation a good thing?

An answer, but not a good one. Portability is a part of it. It is difficult to use gold for transactions because of its weight. Speaking of catastrophe using the term John Q. used "panic" is what led to the Great Depression. That depression was the result of a speculative bubble. The...

Econ Forum: Isn't deflation a good thing?

None of this amounts to discounts, price cutting, or increased productivity. It amounts to panic! It wipes out wealth, shakes confidence, and causes what? The economic term is "depression", but that is also the human condition it brings. I'm using the historical reference to depression...

    macro thoughts

How will the housing bubble resolve itself (slow bleed or massive bust) I think slow bleed because real estate has historically been a 'smart' investment. Since, you are asking about residential real estate.

To whoever runs this Bulletin Board

I don't think there is anything wrong with popularity contests. I will say when I frequented another message board that frequently recommended posts drew my attention. I don't know what I missed as a result.

Were any of the great scientists/inventors also religious?

I just am tired of this kind of discussion and was showing it in my previous to posts on this thread. Good luck with the discussion.

Were any of the great scientists/inventors also religious?

Oddtrader, This thread appears to me to be a "stalking horse" http://www.bartleby.com/81/15829.html whereby one or more individuals can feed their own egos sweet morsels for their conscienceses. The reason? I have no idea. John Bunyon would describe this debate as a quagmire which...

Were any of the great scientists/inventors also religious?

almost all of you seem, to my simple thinking, to be appealing to authority to bolster your arguments. I learned in my introduction to logic class this is a fallacious way of arguing (debating). In his book (I forget the title), Sagan reiterated for those without the benefit of having gotten...

Thanks Traderkay, from my reading I've seen there are different ways to judge the breakout...Simtrader's was the first I actually charted and tried to follow. Regardless of his style, which was abrasive as hell, he had something to say. For now, I'll most likely be following your's and DB's...

"Think You Can Beat the Market? Eugene Fama Still Says You Can't" :D

Now imagine that it is really possible to demonstrate market's INefficiency - also it depends on the definitions because they are CONTRADICTORY definitions - what will be the consequence . Efficiency can only exists if there is doubt. That's why I will never do this formal demonstration even if...

I took some time to think this through. Simtrader's technique was a breakout system. I think the reason these haven't worked for me is lack of patience. There are times when that system would breakout after a creeping advance or decline, maybe half of the way through the move. I always...

    Charting 3 variable data

Yes, I've encountered this problem as well when trying to display three dimensional data. However, in the *.gif I posted the intersections of the matrix represent the peaks or valleys of the colored regions, whether those intersections occur in the interior or on the edges of the map.

    Charting 3 variable data

I realize now, I could put the same information I have in a matrix into a Bubble chart. Thanks again for this "How To'.
