    Ideal leverage?

I have seen a couple of studies that claimed that was the ideal range. Here is one that's worth looking at: http://ddnum.com/articles/leveragedETFs.php

China Would Outlast U.S. in Trade War, Billion-Dollar Fund Says

Exactly. When you're a net importer (US), you don't have nearly as much to lose in a trade war as a net exporter (China).

Are all mutual funds traded on IB considered "no load"?

There was nothing in your initial post to denote bond funds. Your first post just say "mutual funds...underperform broad based tradable index tracker..." Regardless, there are MANY examples in junk bonds and muni junk bonds where the managed funds significantly out-perform the index.

Are all mutual funds traded on IB considered "no load"?

Are you talking about managed mutual funds only? As far as index mutual funds, they broadly track the index just like ETF's. For instance you can't see any difference between VFINX (Vanguard's S&P index fund) vs SPY. ZERO difference. Most of Vanguard and Fidelity's index funds have...

Old-school American retail is getting crushed by: Capitalism

I order a fair amount of stuff online from retailers that have brick and mortar locations in my area. It's pretty easy to walk in and return something that way.

    A Theory

You don't realize it, but Arnold's tweet actually proves the opposite of what you're hoping it does. It's the antiquated government involvement using a medallion system to limit the number of taxis that caused the bubble in medallion prices. I feel horrible for the guys that bought...

ECB could hit inflation target by late 2018, early 2019 -Draghi

CB's have been saying that since 2010. They just keep moving the goal posts down the road.

Old-school American retail is getting crushed by: Capitalism

Yeah it's too easy to order online now. I probably buy 25-30% of my cloths online. You will always need brick and mortar retail to some degree, but you can fill in a lot of the gaps online. When 35% of the retail locations wash out, it will strengthen margins at the brands/locations that survive.

What Ever Happened to Peak Oil?

Sorry, but I don't remember the work crude in there 10 years ago. Sounds like you just moved the goal post. I tend to think the global warming alarmists will be obfuscating and rewriting what they said 25 years from now too.

    A Theory

I don't know about in your area but the cops that I see aren't donut eaters like they may have been in the past. Most of these guys look like they lift weights 2 hours a day. But I love the police in my area. They keep the riff raff out of my bubble suburb.

    How does this all end?

Yes, I agree it's quite a conundrum and I'm not sure what will unfold. I do see inflation on the horizon. The question is whether demand will be stunted by price increases, thereby stalling further growth, which is already near zero. Interesting times that we live in, but I suppose global...

    How does this all end?

I'm not sure stagflation is in the cards in the near future considering the employment situation. We have very low unemployment, and falling productivity. My business is seeing immense wage pressure due to low unemployment. We are currently in bidding wars to hire inferior candidates who we...

What is the rationale behind trendlines?

I'm not advocating that it is a "better" tool. Those are your words not mine. Like anything in trading..... ie lines, pivot points, indicators, etc, they are tools and there's nothing magic about them. The "magic" comes from a trader's ability to handle their emotions, money management and...

Trendlines are nothing more than a tool to help you interpret price action and trends.

Who whudda guessed 'safe' treasury bonds more volatile than the SPX

Who thinks 30 year treasuries aren't volatile? Do you think your one day sample size is a good way for the exchanges to set margins? ZB is down a little over 1% today.... Not that big of a deal, IMO. Let's consider Black Monday in 1987 when the S&P closed down over 24% and the 30 year bond...
