If I understand correctly what your charts are showing, I have to say trading breakouts for scalps on ES is a tough way to try and make a profit imho. For one thing, if you add up all the 1 tick breakout ticks you give up just getting into your trades, for let's say 8 trades in one day, that...

I am continually astounded at how these R10's keep banging back and forth in the present environment. Another one @ 12.50, currently +5 ITM. Edit: Sorry Volente, didn't see your post about the short. Yes, R10 longs from 12.50 need not be greedy here, beyond 50%.

Not to totally hijack this thread (apologies), but I just opened up my IB charts and the grid problem has been fixed for the moment. The true test will be tomorrow morning, but if things hold up, I will definitely give kudos to IB for fixing this problem so quickly, even though it shouldn't have...

Yes but this is not shocking news to anyone, least of all to them. Since I started with IB, over 4 years ago, they had this one simple concept right ... a "1-day" chart meant session start to session end, no matter what product or exchange. As of today, for the first time they changed "1-day"...

Yep, R20's, R50's ... even an occasional R100 (5/6/10). :D

I think it has to do with the volatility cycle. The Turtles systems were looking for the big run ... after big runs markets tend to rest (chop), which of course is deadly for breakout systems. I would imagine they tested it both ways (taking every trade vs waiting for a fail).
