I may be the odd man out here, but I personally believe you have to keep the risk management dynamic. Not every YM trade setup will have the potential to earn you +27, and not every day is it worth waiting around for only the +27 setups. Also while most trades should have a 1:2 risk:reward...

Need to see Dow hold 12000. If it does, we could climb all the way back to fill the gap (even though it filled in overnight). Dollar rally is spanking this thing right now though.

Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for in terms of an explanation. I had an idea it might have to do with value models and large scaled-in positions, as referenced in my original post.

But is it just a lucky idiot piker, or some lucky commercial or local? And if it is one of these professionals and picking tops/bottoms is so wrong, how do they get away with or justify bucking conventional trading wisdom to play these bottoms and tops? You'd have to assume they've done it...

No individual trillionaires, but large trading desks on Wall Street take gobs of money out of the markets on a daily basis. This is sort of what I'm getting at. Big money drives markets and creates the H's & L's ... who else is riding their coattails and is it fair to call them dumb money...

Traders always say don't pick tops and bottoms, yet the people on the right side at these entries are revealed in hindsight to have been the smartest guys in the room. Or the luckiest. So who are they primarily, and are they smart or just lucky? Is it alot of pikers who got lucky this time...

If this is for fx, could you translate into 6E (EUR) terms please? In your example you said 60*12 profits (720) and 40*8 losses (240) . On Friday which was a clear trend day after the 2 complete loop/reversals off NFP, I fail to see 60 * 12-pip with-trend trades and nowhere near your minimum...

I agree with the others who say try smaller size, and then build up gradually. Use fewer shares if stocks, and there's always an alternative instrument if you're talking futures (e.g. QM vs CL, SPY vs ES, etc.) EDIT: (Afterthought) - you want to be in a position of being motivated to increase...

Well last night the Mavs handed the Heat the same late-game smackdown the Heat gave the Bulls in game five of their series. Gotta say it felt kinda good to see. (Sorry to any Heat fans out there.)
