    Out-Of-Hours Trading Mini-Dow/e-mini

carltonp, it's been mentioned already but you might want to seriously consider trading 6E (alt. symbol: EUR). It has decent moves and volume during the U.S. overnight, and more bang for the buck than YM or ES.

So far this seems to be the scenario that is playing out. New chart ...

    A simple price action approach

Thanks. Yeah, some doubt crept into my mind right after I posted that 1st chart, which I was mistakenly zoomed in on (leftover setting from Friday). I then realized the DB with Friday's low coincides with the old TL from the tops of 6/14 and 6/17. Also 57 was an infamous ES R10. But I still...

Possible scenario for delayed visit to 50-51 area ... (same chart as last one, widened out a few days).

    A simple price action approach

IMHO ES is likely headiing to 51 area ... after that, we can see what happens. Good thread by the way. :)

    Out-Of-Hours Trading Mini-Dow/e-mini

I agree, YM is crap in A.H.. I've seen 5-6 tick spreads recently, no joking. The only exception is the hour before RTH open, especially if there are numbers out. IMHO 8:30-10am EDT is the best time to trade YM.

    Is trading a useless/unproductive activity??

Of course it's all relative. If you think the whole financial system is important to society, and traders provide liquidity to allow the markets to run smoothly, then some trading is definitely useful. However, since most of the volume is from funds and banks, retail trading is probably an...

Yes. And the quick R10's and 20's off the anouncements, instead of this slow grind action.

    Fire Walking anyone?

Totally a tangent here, but thought I'd mention how I deal with unsavory menial crap like doing dishes ... I save them 'til very first thing in the morning, when my brain is still half asleep. It seems to go more quickly that way and I'm not as annoyed about wasting quality awake time.

Risk Management - Mini Sized Dow

Alot of trades (cost you about 25% in commissions?) but bottom line is you kept more than you gave back, so if you can do that every day, you should be golden. Nice job. (sorry for the late response).

    IB TWS software

Does the stand alone run any slower than the browser version? I've hesitated to run TWS off my HD thinking it might bog down more easily, especially with how bulky recent versions have become.

Took awhile but there's cash gap fill finally. YM too.

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

Partly because YM hasn't closed its gap yet or hit R100 (comparable to the ES R10 that brought it this low.) Edit: On the other hand, I could be totally wrong about cash gap filling, because SPY already filled awhile ago.

ES done, cash imminent (but stats are only based on ES). :)

Gap fill is highly likely today, as 3 consec. Fridays without g.f. would be pretty rare (last time Aug '09).

Easiest method to short the Euro?

Pros and cons to anything I guess. You'd have similar long term costs rolling futures or options too.

Easiest method to short the Euro?

EUO might be "easiest", but yes there are options on EUR/USD futures.

response to: A simple price action approach, for beginers

You might want to take another look at #2 and #3. For #2, I'm not sure "*SWING LOW mid point of the top line." is necessarily accurate. To me a better description of where the parallel line should be drawn (for a downtrend) would be "parallel to the trendline and touching the one pivot low...

According to http://moonphases.info/full_moon_calendar_dates.html the March 2009 full moon was on the 11th. The market bottomed on the 6th.
