    hiding your trades

My question is why does a trader at the desk of a firm have access to clients' private account info, i.e. trading records, knowledge about their profitability, AND the ability to identify and monitor in real time a specific client's orders as they are placed? Still waiting to hear back from...

Once Debt Ceiling is Lifted SPY Will...

Gotcha. Just thought you might have a sense of whether the ET crowd is generally right, wrong, or somewhere in the middle. Not that I'd ever base any trades on it, but I thought it might be interesting to see.

Once Debt Ceiling is Lifted SPY Will...

You are king of the polls shortie, gotta hand it to you. (....) :) I voted +2%, but I reserve the right to change my mind at any point. :D I was just curious, do you have any stats on the reliability of your poll results? ... do they provide any consistency in predicting market...

    hiding your trades

Could you be more specific? Did they identify successful traders and then just mirror their orders as they came in (putting them 1 step behind in the queue, I would hope), or take the time to actually reverse engineer and frontrun successful players' strategies? If I may ask, what kind of...

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

It seems odd to me that they just started requiring me to log in with my TDA password each time I launch QT now, if they are indeed phasing it out. This just started last week. Anyone else experience this?

There is no cure for Gambling Addiction Traders

I would've left it alone, but since you went there ... [ ] knows how to form a complete sentence [x] jumps to (incorrect) conclusions about people he's never met

There is no cure for Gambling Addiction Traders

....and so often the key to becoming a losing trader as well. There's a fine line between addiction and obsession. To succeed at trading one has to be at least nearly if not completely obsessed, just like an obsession is required to become a professional athlete. Does the obsession...

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

A downtrending channel can be a bull flag on a larger time frame, i.e. the hourly as in this case. Either way, if there's confluence (this time the channel low was also an R10) I consider it good enough for at least a scalp.

Yep, with help from the channel surfers. :D

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

Wish you luck on this one vol. I agree with LC's analysis of the daily TL b/o re-test. Also the supp. @ yesterday's low was a perfect 62% of the last upswing. The 10.25-21.25 R10 retraced 4.00, which in my book is sufficient to move on to the next one. That being said, you'll probably get an...

YM what is the absolute max liability one can incurr in?

Couple things: first ... typo on the first one - that was 10/28 of 2008, not 2010. Also, I would just point out that for your #2 the 1 hour bar (8:00-9:00) was 181, but that run was actually about 195 in 45 minutes, from 8:25-9:05 -ish. The move was NFP-related. Good stats to know though ...

Why trend trading does not work?

Refreshing ... thanks. Also like your quote about market rewarding adaptability more than anything else. I totally agree it's mainly about using one's experience. Quickly and correctly identifying chart structure is key.

PA seems to be strengthening for long, but Asia being down 1-2% would be my only reservation.

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

Yep, 50%, R50 .... But a 3rd day gap is also in effect, as well as T-day, so I'm wondering if this 12 pt. gap is all there'll be. I guess the question is basically which is the stronger initial magnet, gap fill or the aforementioned supp. levels. Thoughts anyone?

    Pull back vs reversal

The way I interpret the original question is that at least some countertrend move is taking place in an environment where the market is making new highs (how would you otherwise even be thinking about trying to differentiate between a p/b and a reversal?) I think that knowing what exhaustive...

    Pictures of your trading stations

As usual I'm way behind here, but just had to comment ... that's hilarious NoD!!! (Also I'm surprised no one mentioned the awesome 1970's SINGLE monitor?!!!) :D

We could very easily retrace all the way back down to fill the gap today. IMHO 8.50 holding will be key. Last year's June 30th chart ...

    Out-Of-Hours Trading Mini-Dow/e-mini

One of the reasons I mentioned 6E is that the volume is often better 2am - 8am (Eastern, U.S.) than it is after 11:30 am. Plus you're in the UK, so trading the EUR would seem like a natural choice. But maybe that's just me. :) As for best hours for ES and YM, just have a gander at any chart...
