Apples to Apples ... let's get rid of the oranges. There has NEVER been a 70% decline in any commodity that anyone in this universe (except for Rogers) has refereed to as a correction. I believe crude went from $149 a barrel in the summer of '08 to a low of about $32 a few months later...

I should be clear ... I close all my trades by 4:15 every day. I take the same position to bed every night. I am long the dollar -- with zero leverage -- by default. Most traders would call that being "flat" and I have no quibble with that characterization. Given the capital I have at my...

You may prove to be be correct that "2009 is" yet don't you think the jury is still out?

Yes ... that is what happened. Does anyone really know what the state of the economy is now? I think the fact that so very much of it is dependent on government support makes it weak. Cash for clunkers ... and now car sales are back down. They tell me the housing market is better but what...

Now is a falling dollar, rising equities and a record nominal gold price. That is what I see. I am TOTALLY ... and ABSOLUTELY unconcerned whether inflation actually manifests as a reality in our economy. I am focused on what the money is willing to chase ... to bid up. These are the facts...

The dollar is weak, gold is strong and virtually every central bank in the universe wants to prevent deflation by goosing inflation at least a bit more. I strive to listen to markets (and often fail) and want to trade what I see ... not what I think. Now is a falling dollar, rising...

Intradaybill, Egads ... I agree with both of you. They are trying to reflate and, in the short term, they probably will get that insanity done.

The reason they flooded the world's economies with monopoly money was their fear of deflation. If they still fear it (and I believe they do) aren't they likely to keep rates low through much or all of 2010? And, even more importantly, the bet to make right now is that the incredible amount...

If the US collapses what happens to stock ownership?

The circumstance as described is chaos. Not only do I not exclude armed robbery I assume that within days it gets to shoot first and ask questions later. Again, I have no belief that any of this will happen. But, IF IT DOES HAPPEN, do not believe anyone will trade guns for food and water...

If the US collapses what happens to stock ownership?

I am not a believer in this utter collapse scenario but if these conditions exist the only things with more value than the gun and sufficient ammo are tanks with ammo. The gun gets you food and water a lot quicker than the food and water get you the gun.

How Does A Successful Trader Find Investors/Backing? Requesting Advice ?

As TZ has so aptly pointed out DO NOT triple up your leverage. I am not able to tell you an easy way to get from point A to point B (unless you can beg, borrow or steal from friends and family) but trying to make your $15,000 do the work of $50,000 does not triple your chance of blowing up...

    Today's Most Crowded Trades ????

I assume that 90% + on ET are looking to ride waves and pay attention to whatever they use to tell them the flow is changing. Who cares what is crowded? The reason these markets are moving is that there is money behind them. It is PROFOUNDLY not your job to figure out how far irrational...

is GE a buy or sell?

The ask was 5B the bid was 3.5B. They hit they bid six weeks before Lehman went down. And, I'll bet they are glad the did. GE may well ask 35B for NBC. It remains to be seen what the bid turns out to be. New York Times Media & Advertising ... athough the parties did not disclose...

is GE a buy or sell?

You are correct a one billion dollar cap on Twitter is pretty amazing and may turn out to signify that people will still "bid it up". But there is a difference. It cost someone one hundred million to place a one billion dollar value on twitter. In the NBC case you describe, the buyer will...

is GE a buy or sell?

I would be quite surprised if NBC fetched that high a price. It may well be a valuable property but 35 Billion seems over the top.

is GE a buy or sell?

One of the primary reasons to get short a company with a sorry looking balance sheet and poor transparency (and GE has both) is because the upside is huge. If and when the curtain is pulled and it turns out that in the light of day their financial condition is much worse than assumed their...

    ES fill price anomaly question

FB ... Thanks for the analysis. I will be sticking with NQ for the moment as all that you have said makes sense to me. Under fairly "normal" conditions what do you think of an initial stop eight ticks back, moving my stop to break even once I have eight ticks in the trade and beginning to...

    ES fill price anomaly question

Here is my story: I am a relatively new and am trading a single NQ contract because I am risk averse and like the $5 tick. I pay $4.50 per RT and try to catch moves of three points plus. I try to stay with the trade on days that look to be trend and look to get out with something on days...

    ES fill price anomaly question

I am relatively new and trade a single NQ contract because I like the $5 tick and lose less on the trades that go against me. Obviously I am a million miles away from needing the super liquidity of ES but assumed that the liquidity would result in less slippage not more. I frequently enter...
