Does anyone know of any "Sonification" software for market data?

Problem with X-Trader is that they aggregate trades so T&S is not accurate and neither are the sounds. It sounds great when you listen and, if they segregated each trade, I believe some small percentage of traders could benefit. If you find it elsewhere let us know.

Howard Lederer: On Poker and Trading

I think well over 90% of those here (successful or not) understand that you need to be willing to take your small hits repeatedly in exchange for the runner. Doing it is harder than knowing it and I think Howard has contributed nothing of value. Many cliches are true but once they are cliche...

Howard Lederer: On Poker and Trading

He didn't say anything useful about trading and what he said about poker was mostly cliche. Howard is a smart guy but this clip is dreadful.

It's official : Bernanke has lost his mind

Totally accurate. Individuals may be fortunate but societies get torn apart. No one in their right mind should cheer the current insanity.

It's official : Bernanke has lost his mind

The overriding principle is that if you perceive hyperinflation or even just substantial inflation is the next cycle and that cycle is immenient you borrow all you can and trade the money for hard assets. Clearly some hard assets are better than others -- precious metals probably being the...

It's official : Bernanke has lost his mind

Volker was never "in". His views are inconsistent with this administration and he is simply too old to win the battle for Obama's ears. There seem to be no constraints on their idiocy. The only remaining question is will the real run on the dollar be next week or six months from now but the...

I am a new guy, how much do I expect to lose before I make it

I stand gently yet accurately corrected ... lol. And here I thought you only a seafood expert. Nice quote and frequently accurate. STAKES ....

I am a new guy, how much do I expect to lose before I make it

I am a relatively new single contract NQ trade. I agree with the gentleman quoted below absolutely. Survive and lean and over time it is possible to prosper. This does not mean you should cut your winners short or trade in other non-productive ways but it does mean you need to play for...

I am a new guy, how much do I expect to lose before I make it

You can only use what you decide to risk. Decide what your personal parameters are and proceed. It might be that you are prepared to lose$1,500 before taking a break and rethinking your strategy. No matter what you decide spend time on a simulator. No sense risking real money from day one.

Marc Faber, Dollar Will Eventually Go to Value of Zero, Oct 26, 2009

Yes, it makes sense. If it ends up to be just commissions it is not prohibitive. Yet I have often heard the ETF's (sophisticated traders I would hope) and up getting much lower returns because of costs "associated with rolling their contracts". Doesn't compute for me.

Shorting Visa (V) as an intermediate term hedge?

Most of the time when you think you can't sell ... you should sell.

Goldman Sachs bet on housing meltdown -- and won

I thought the Enron guys bore the brunt of the Enron fraud. Shows how uninformed I am. They only prosecuted them because tech went belly up?

The sad truth about trading is

Churchill actually passed many belittling comments about Hitler during the war. And still won the debate ... lol. Of course you are correct that personal attacks are, as general rule, to be avoided. But how should we handle someone whose point is absurd and who has already lost the debate...

The sad truth about trading is

An ex-friend of mine who I had known for years took $100,000 in 1986 and turned it into $30,000,000 by 1996 investing and trading. His 2,000 share purchase of Microsoft in the spring of 1986 was the start of his return to investing after a hiatus of some years. He achieved his results with...

The sad truth about trading is

Don't wait a year to come back and tell us how that is working out for you. Come back in 90 days. He may be a true genuis AT THIS (At This is all that counts) but the odds are many thousands to one against that. BTW, is it your religion that defines you as a trader or does the small c in...

Is Gold or Silver bullion a better investment?

I share many of your biases but think it needs to be pointed out that the deflation in the thirties was not across the board. Gold and silver were not suffering from a lack of demand as were almost all other assets. In fact the existing free exchange of dollars for gold was dangerously...

The sad truth about trading is

Jesus is right (isn't he always ... lol). It makes no sense for you to be here for nine years. The posters here have made the decision to seek superior returns trading and not sit passively. Some will win and some will lose.

Marc Faber, Dollar Will Eventually Go to Value of Zero, Oct 26, 2009

Makes sense. The ETF's seem to frequently under perform the market and it has been written that because it is easy for experienced traders to know when they will roll their positions they get killed on the roll over. Any feeling if this is reality? Any estimate on what I give up rolling them...

Marc Faber, Dollar Will Eventually Go to Value of Zero, Oct 26, 2009

Bingo. The man has it right. Faber in years past has been interesting to listen to (although I never back any pundits opinion) but he has mastered what pundits all must do eventually to make real money. Give headline writers the sensationalist headline and broadcasters the over-the-top...
