You know, I think you're right about that...oops...:(

    Reading the Tea Leaves.

How many of you take the time to look at options that are the same distance away from the underlying, and what do you think about it. I've been taking positions on the S&P 500 lately, and I find it interesting to notice the difference between options that are say, 40 points below and 40 above...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I think >4%/mo ROI with some regularity is achievable, >4%/mo ROP is harder. I like to keep some powder dry for emergencies, so it cut's into the ROP. ROI, return on investment ROP, return on portfolio.

    GOOG today

A tip of the hat to the shorts, I think they've got it right, this thing is behaving negatively, and with earnings coming up, it looks like everyone is expecting a disappointment.

    NFLD... LEAP Covered Call Play

Oh, I hear ya, it's just such a good feeling to get one really right once. Even if that decision wasn't coming down in a couple of weeks, it would seem like I'd be going to the well one too many times. I haven't forgotten NUVO...$20 to $2.50...poof. I hope my post wasn't perceived as...

    Index Options Settlement Time

Thanks coach. I don't feel so bad now.... but dog-gone it, when you're looking at 10% ROI for one month, and settle for 2.5%... Yes I know, 30% annualized still ain't bad, but 120% is alot better. I kept telling myself, "don't be greedy, cover it Arnie, cover it." ..and now coach tells...

    Index Options Settlement Time

This subject is extremely important to me. Last month I almost got into a TON of trouble with an S&P option position...two members here know what I'm talking about...and this month I covered a position in fear of possibly getting into that trouble again, but I don't think I had to...I wish I had...

50-100% 2007 target return possible with options?

I know what ROI means, and yes, I doubt it's possible to find alot of CC situations offering 10-15%/month on 1 position. That would mean, for example, buying MO at $84, and selling an $8.40 OTM Call against it....the MO Jan 85 Call is not going for $8.40... NFLD? There's a possibility...$15...

50-100% 2007 target return possible with options?

I am talking ROI. 10-15% ROI/month on CC's?.... What kind of question is that? Of course, and I've written quite a few, still do. Naked Puts, too. Profound.

50-100% 2007 target return possible with options?

Yes I have, exclusively, and I have not seen the returns you quote. "Not difficult to 10-15%/month..." um..... I don't believe it. I haven't seen it.

50-100% 2007 target return possible with options?

...and save alot of margin capital. I used to be in love with CC's, not any more, it ties up too much money, and like coach said, one bad hit and...poof. :(

50-100% 2007 target return possible with options?

My best month was a 4% Return On Equity. I retired in Sep of '05. Before that, I couldn't devote much time to the market (blue collar), so I mostly did Covered Calls. Since retirement, I started with with lotsa naked positions, but was tying too much capital. Now I mostly do Credit Spreads. I...

How Much Powder Do You Keep Dry?

    Me, crazy? Nope, not me...:D
  20. Arnie Guitar

How Much Powder Do You Keep Dry?

On average, how much of a available margin cushion do you keep in your trading account? Right now, I'm at about 34%. I'm itching so bad to enter more positions that expire this month, but I feel like I'd be being greedy. All of my current positions look as if they'll expire OTM, with a nice ROE...
