Baron can we revoke some members?

I agree with you in large part. I just ignore the "idiots". Plenty of immature people out there posting. Over time ET may evolve into another Yahoo where anything goes ... and I suspect serious traders will move on.

FreeTrade's Order Execution... am I paranoid? ("Invisible" Fees)

If you're serious about trading I'd find a direct access firm. After you make your 20 "free" trades with Freetrade then what? I'd never trade through anyone where I don't have control over how my order is routed.

    Mr Market Methods

Two thoughts on Mr. Market ... (1) If you're here to read and post seriously on trading and related issues then reading Mr. Market is a total waste of time. (2) if you're looking for a laugh for whatever reason you might get one reading some of the stupidity on those threads.

What would you do if 25 yrs old?

Great post; agree with all of them ... a few related comments of my own. On #1 above, it helps greatly if the woman is supportive of you if you're a trader. One who can deal with the occasional ups and downs and show compassion is a "keeper". And by following #2 (above) you can save up enough...

Why do you trade what you do?

I also now trade SPY much of the time intra-day. But I still do swing trades in individual stocks. Don't have to do any real homework (TA or fundamentals) trading SPY.

    Rate Cut 1/2 or 1/4

My sentiments also. This bs of continuing to lower rates is garbage. Reaching the point of desperation with further cuts.

    Cutting losses is for losers

Yep, those "investors" have prospered a LOT over the past 3 years! LOL As far as the superior intelligence you alluded to above ... if the "investor" was in fact, so intelligent, then he/she would have seen the market careening out of control to the upside in late 1999 and early 2000 and...

Met my Weekly Goal for the First Time

I would recommend that you keep your goal the same (9 pts) for some period of time until you consistently hit that target week in and week out. Only then would I raise the bar a bit ... I've seen lots of traders over time have a good week and then shoot for the moon the next week, trade much...

    Note to ET and Moderators...

Bottom line is that you and the moderators are in a "no-win" situation. No matter what action you take (or don't take) there will always be someone who not only complains but who wants to debate the issue(s) until the end of time. IMO some people here have way too much time on their hands .....

    College Students and Grads.

I think that's why many people choose "safe" careers. To work for someone else an individual minimizes their risk personally. At the same time they've given up the entrepreneurial opportunity to realize significant gains or losses financially. But that is a choice everyone makes. As far as...

    College Students and Grads.

Why 75%? I believe an earlier poster said that in training BT stated the success rate was 1 in 10 or 1 in 20. To divulge such up front is at least being honest. Have you ever dealt with business brokers? I did when I considered buying a business 10 years ago. If you have an interest in a...

    College Students and Grads.

First, psychological testing is not applied to all types of people who undergo stress in the workplace. Maybe you misstated what you meant. But I worked in the corporate world for 15 years before becoming a trader and I had a LOT of corporate stress. And I certainly was never "tested". Next...

    College Students and Grads.

Does the college degree guarantee employment? Nope ... Option 2 (above) ... no law says that a failed trader could not go back and finish (or pursue) a degree. Then he/she would fall into the group in option 1 (above) ... which still doesn't guarantee anything.

    College Students and Grads.

Sure the degree is more valuable AFTER you've blown out trading accounts. But .... would you be making that same statement if you'd doubled your account in a year? Did you have any training prior to trading and apparently losing $$$? Without some sort of training or education in training that...

    Trade with other traders

I prefer to trade alone. That way I'm not influenced by any outside factors, people or otherwise. My experience in trading with others (in an office) back in the mid 90's (when I was less disciplined) was that I sometimes was influenced by others in the office and did take trades that didn't...

    How do I compete "They"?

Let's look at the above points ... 1. LOL ... No one is "forbidden" to cancel an order he/she places. Second, if you're penalized costwise to cancel then find a new direct access provider. There are guys who don't charge to cancel. 2. "unify their sources"? That to me sounds like a...

    swing trading vs day trading

Personally, I don't put mine in separate accounts. I find it better to mentally split my allocations of money and have the entire account accessible to me throughout the trading day so I don't have to toggle back and forth between accounts or with different software (if one used someone...

    swing trading vs day trading

I think he was suggesting that it was very profitable to do BOTH ... which I agree with. Even though the market was in an uptrend in that time period we did have down days and having some cash available at the start of each day from closing out daytrades the prior day allowed one to capitalize...

    swing trading vs day trading

But being a position trader the last 3 years since the bubble likely would have been less lucrative than scalping (i.e. daytrading). But in the end it dependent on the individual and his/her discipline and money management skills IMO. My trading account is allocated for 2/3 da trading and 1/3...

    You can't handle the truth!!!

In my opinion it's the 3rd option mentioned above. If our intelligence was (is) so damned good ... and I recall Colin Powell stating his case before the UN with slides, aerial photos, etc. ... then surely we'd have found SOMETHING by now. Heck if Saddam & Co. were going to take the WMD...
