    Exiting a Profitable Trade

I am starting to get the feeling that a 30% pop on a long option is pretty damn good, and closing it out to trade another day might not be a bad idea. What I have not been able to identify is whether or not this is market specific. I don't have the resources to backtest on intraday pricing...

AAPL - Earnings this Monday October 20. Buy OTM Oct24 calls on Monday

It is not a loaded question. You have categorically stated your dislike of credit spreads because of their poor risk/reward ratio. I simply asked you to compare the outcome of a typical FXfx trade (OTM long call/put) versus an OTM credit spread when the underlying doesn't do as you expect. I...

AAPL - Earnings this Monday October 20. Buy OTM Oct24 calls on Monday

Because he consistently makes blanket statements about verticals having a poor risk/reward ratio, without any allowance for "view". He counsels people that they are bad trades, period. Forgetting for the moment that one's personal style and risk tolerance should heavily inform one's method of...

AAPL - Earnings this Monday October 20. Buy OTM Oct24 calls on Monday

I'm specifically asking you to address the situation where the underlying doesn't move for the duration of the trade. Compare the long call to an ATM or ITM (debit) vertical or OTM (credit) vertical. Which is "better"?

AAPL - Earnings this Monday October 20. Buy OTM Oct24 calls on Monday

Nice dodge. I asked you to compare your long call to a vertical if the underlying DOESN'T move up, as well as if it moves down. Go ahead, do it to humor me.

Trading options - How to have an edge?

I haven't analyzed it, but I would think something like long ATM puts in two anti-correlated 3X ETFs would have some potential. Gamma helps you on each side. A big move is capped in one but uncapped (until underlying goes to 0) on the other. I guess it's all in the price.

AAPL - Earnings this Monday October 20. Buy OTM Oct24 calls on Monday

How does your long option do when the underlying doesn't move? What if it moves against you? Please compare to the same long option in a vertical.

    Calendars and double calendars

Well, it happened again. I put on a double calender on UNG (@ $20.60) a week ago, using the $20 put calendar and $21 call calendar, front expiry today. This morning, UNG drifted down to $20, so I legged my way out of the trade. Note that this was within 4 hours of expiry, and the underlying...

    Option strategies for trend following?

You're completely delusional. You also asserted that your "poison" is the ONLY poison, which is patently wrong. In fact, unless you plan to be right on price AT EXPIRY, you stand a good chance of taking it in the shorts with your method EVEN IF you call price direction correct.

    Option strategies for trend following?

Listen, you are going to cost people money. I don't care if you lose your OWN money with this cockamamie BS you can't resist dropping in every thread, but for God's sake have some decency and stop spouting ill-formed theories with absolutely no evidence as truth. Honestly, I think you should...

    Calendars and double calendars

Thank you, sonoma. I see all kinds of testimonials about time spreads, but in my experience they just don't tend to play out as predicted. I can't afford that level of uncertainty.

    Calendars and double calendars

I'd like to hear some feedback from folks who trade calendars and double calendars (or double diagonals). I'm specifically interested in whether or not you find it necessary to hedge vega or delta, and what adjustments you might make. Also, what kind of time frames are you looking at? I put...

Total P/L from my ET option trades

Which of those trades were debit spreads? Regarding the Greeks: they sure matter before expiry. If you're holding to expiry and don't get assigned in the meantime, then OK, ignore them.
