How does IB's API work with historical data?

Thanks but, due to my short knowledge on technical terminology, it will Not help meto understand. After 5 or ten years later I believe everyone will be familiar with those, similar to that TradingWorkStation like IB is well spread in the last 10 years. Although my area is close to computer...

How does IB's API work with historical data?

Instead of those two, welcome to provide work to the public, probably at the web. If need, please estimate the labour since there i sno free lunch. But it should be a few hour of work in the weekend, not the hard and time-consuming work for one entire week.

How does IB's API work with historical data?

I had experience to get a paid helper on Excel DDE, for other than IB in other than NYSE market. Its data feed was successful but I agree it is "clumsy" as Butterfly and probably Python is recommended as 2Rosy.

How does IB's API work with historical data?

If someone has successful experience in data feed using IB API, I can pay for his labour, since there is no free lunch. I can spend my own time for its implementation but my time need money too. If someone spend weekend for me I should pay at least some hundreds of dollars. In short, suppose...

    Goal in 2015: $92k to $150k

Someone has higher return than yours, in SHORT term. I believe there is NO one who shows > 20% annual return rate like Buffet. If there is one who has > annual 20% compounding, then he already has all the wealth in Earth, for the last 400 years. Compounding is such a hugh accumulation. Of...

    Goal in 2015: $92k to $150k

If I were you, I am going to calculate all the commission for the 4(?) years, as well as tax for the trading. Of course 2014 and 2015 tax are to be estimated. In case that profit after tax is 100K and all the expense(commission and tax) is 50K, then the tax rate is 50/(100+50)=33.3%...

    Goal in 2015: $92k to $150k

Interesting! BTW, how is the tax rate(=Expense/ProfitBeforeTax), for the last 4 years? Most cases, 30% or 40% depending your personal tax bracket in 1040.

Intraday data for Black Monday 1987?

Like October in 1987, October in 1929 and October in 2008. Therefore, if there is another crisis in the future, then it will be next October. (???)

Newbie / whee can see the chart before 9:30 in IB?

In NYSE, what time do they open pre-Market, such as between 7:00 and 9:30? Also how about after 4:00PM, such as between 4:00 and 6:00?

Newbie / whee can see the chart before 9:30 in IB?

Dear- Not that current time of my writing is around 9:00 AM in IB screen. Early this morning, I have placed a BUY order of MSFT at 31.1 so that hopefully the price of MOST hits 31.1 during 9:30 and 4:00. But at the time of before 9:00, my order IS EXECUTED, possibly during PRE-MARKET(?)...

To make a sound for symbol, when there is a new entry signal.

Dear- Personally, interested in 1) equity trading only to buy when each price goes down unexpectedly. 2) mostly use R or Python, as my primary tool. Suppose we run entry detection program every five minutes. (the pre-programmed codes with >1000 lines takes > 3 minutes to complete) If there is...

Anyone using 27" or 32" monitors

Good to hear. So each one monitor with separate VGA card. That is also what I am trying to have soon. In the meantime, looking for one 4K monitor or two pieces of 4K. In this case, I have to change the current VGA card(s).

Anyone using 27" or 32" monitors

Do you use only ONE VGA card with two 1920 monitors? If so, two pieces of 1920 monitors has roughly ONE 2560 monitor in momory, because 2*1920^2 = 7372800 is roughly close to 2560^2 = 6553600. But two separate monitors need more work (in VGA momory) than one physical monitor, if my...

Anyone using 27" or 32" monitors

If I heard correctly, resolution of 2560 or 4K is important. Please note that 27 inch or 32 inch is not very important. Pay attention to the resolution instead of the physical size of monitor. Also some VGA card does NOT support 4K monitor while most VGA cards support 2560.

Regarding voice recording, for the talk with broker

Dear- I have lots of chance to talk on the phone with security broker. Most brokers keep their voice recording so that, at the legal issue, they can show whatever they think they prefer, to the court. Unfortunately, I do NOT have recording in my land-line phone at this time. Anyone have...
