Thank you for the positive comment. My plan is to open a small (very small, around 5000$) IB account in September and practice using their simulator for a couple of months before I trade for real. Currently I have an Etrade account, but their fees are way too high to practice small trades. I...

Posted below are my total paper trades for June and July using the Hershey method. Total returns are based on each trade being 1/5 of my total trading account. In June, JADE, CHDX, and BTJ all had a good return in the first day only to be lost subsequently (after I had pulled my stop up to...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

In Journal 2 Spyder describes a feature on his charting system called "unusual volume" that can be monitored for additional volume signals. I believe this is an intermediate level sort of trade signal. I'm not certain if SNCR would have qualified as having unusal volume at the time of breakout...

Recieved signal in second half hour, MACD was slightly negative, stochastic had moved below 20. Price was around 24.9 at time of signal. Waited first for it to fall below suppport at 24.65, then I waited some more to see if it would bump its head on the support which could now be considered...

I'm still keeping up with the Hershey trading method. Have read up to page 600 of Journal 2 - rereading journal 1. I'm cutting and pasting important info out of journal 1 that I will print and then keep in a notebook to have on hand. Review is helping a lot. I've posted all of my (paper) trades...

LittleMac, Did you hold onto CECE? It's up near the day's high again.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

I didn't have CECE on my Final Universe list - I think that I took it off because average volume was too low. Having said that, it looked like it gave a valid signal. The only problem I see is that it looks like it's moving in a range on the daily chart. It's tried twice to break over the high...

I can't comment on your entry as I'm just begining to learn the Hershey methods myself. As for exits, I've been trying to incorporate what I've learned about support lines to help aid my exit decisions. Perhaps this will be helpful to you. Two support lines pop out at me (see attached charts)...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

I've been paper trading the beginner's methods for the past month and a half. I got signals for GROW on July 7th, and FRG and NGA on the 12th. I hesitated on the signal for NGA, but had I gotten in at the appropriate time, it would have produced a 10% profit within the first hour. NGA is trading...

BTJ paper trade 6/29 -7/2 Was away when BTJ signalled earlier in the morning, so I decided to try to get in later in the afternoon if I saw that it was going to move higher. At around 1:50, it seemed like it was getting ready to do so. Stochastic was still within the 80-100% range although...

Didn't get any breakouts on the stocks I was watching yesterday. Today I missed the breakouts on BTJ and DRYS due to work at my "real" job. Looking to see whether there will be an additional opportunity to get in on BTJ later this afternoon.

    Don't read my diary

Haven't posted in a while. I've been reading Spydertrader's equities journals. I'm through the first and about 200 pages into the second. I decided to try to paper trade the Jack Hershey method for the next few months to see how I do with it. I am not trying any of the more advanced approaches...

I agree with you and disagree with you on some points. Actually I do think that it makes sense to set a goal to at least beat the SP500. If you don't, then why bother trading at all? You could just stick all your money in an index fund and leave trading to those who want to give their money away...

    Don't read my diary

Right now my goal is to simply beat the SP500, but eventually I want to do much better than that, and I'd like to get a sense of what that kind of number looks like. So I'd like to take a little poll. If you (anyone) could tell me approximately what you made (percentage wise) over the past 2...
