Not so much in stock, but i've seen it in other markets, it does happen the other way around too. Every now and then you will get a very VERY violent move to the upside where volatility does skyrocket. Not sure if the same would happen with VIX, but i would imagine so.

You short all the way up and when it will reverse you will take profits too quick. This is a horrible strategy, you are trying to be right and are forcing your will onto the market. Bad trading. I know it because i've done it myself.

There is more upside in altcoins that bitcoin imo, but right now altcoins are looking bad, so you hold bitcoin and when they drop another 25%, YOU BUY altcoins. That's what i will do. Have specific levels in mind, but that's for me.
