Sam's Day Trading Log (With Charts)

Hi Sam, not sure if this will be helpful but I thought I also agree with NoDoji about trading off the 1min chart. What I do is I will use the 1 min chart if its between 9:30 - 10ish on the open and I'm trading a big momentum stock (or if news breaks on a stock midday and there is a big push)...

Sam's Day Trading Log (With Charts)

Ha, hilarious... I didn't realize you were paper trading eventhough I read your posts, talk about ADD.. I think a lot of people on here trade through IB. If you are going to be daytrading it might be worth it to look into Lightspeed or just find a good prop firm. Just remember the first year...

Sam's Day Trading Log (With Charts)

Wow I didn't realize how much his commissions are. I trade prop so those types of plays are easy for me to make since I don't really look at my commissions. My intent for the post was to get his mind thinking about how he could have traded it differently, something that I always do after the...

Sam's Day Trading Log (With Charts)

Hi Sam, just a quick note on this trade, maybe giving you something to research more. Something I might suggest is to focus on 1 setup for awhile, then move onto another setup and keep building more and more plays, so maybe start with flag patterns, then add support/resistance ect... I like...

Discussion: The problems with trader training services are...

Here is my take... If success at trading was a direct relationship to education, then there would be a lot more successful traders. Success in trading is a blend between education and experience, also finding the correct mixture for YOU is whats really important.

    Trading raw on YouTube

I agree, I trade only 'in play' stocks as well and believe that having the ability to read the tape can only help your trading. Good luck with your trading.

    Trading raw on YouTube

Can you give an example of one of his 'tape reading' trades? I consider myself a highly skilled tape reader and am doubtful just by looking at the bid/offer/last. When you say last do you mean the prints? Why doesn't he show any of these tape reading trades on his site? I suspect that he...

    The ACD Method

ACD gives you a bias for the remainder of the day, you still need to know how to trade. So for your example if it gives you an A up, you wouldn't automatically get long because it could still close below that value or below the A up level but above the opening range, or within the opening...

    best stocks to tape read?

You can try a few different strategies... You can look for thinner, lower priced stocks as algo's usually won't be in them, just people with IB accounts or you can look for stock with fresh news that might mute the algos a little and will bring out the institutional investors. Also try to stay...

    Failure to pull the trigger!

Dr Steenbarger writes about this a lot, I'm sure there are articles out there. That Webinar is good too, I remember seeing it recently. What you can try is some visualization exercises. Visualize yourself seeing the signal, assessing your risk/reward for the trade, and then executing the...

    Mark Fisher's Sushi Roll

I meant to post this yesterday but forgot.. This is the chart of the ES on Wed Oct 27, 2010, and I believe it was a perfect sushi roll. This is a 10min chart. I subscribe to Mark Fisher's Daily ACD data. Part of what I look at is what happened 30 trading day's prior as he believes they...

    Mark Fisher's Sushi Roll

I hope this is the correct place for this. In Mark Fisher’s book he defines a Sushi Roll as an early indicator or a possible trend reversal. He basically compares 5 bars (inside bars) to the next 5 bars (outside bars), he says the time frame isn’t important as long as your are consistent...

    Question about reading the tape

Unless you see 17.kshs in the prints from ARCA then you have to conclude he pulled his bid. Now he could either get taken in one print or dozens of smaller prints which would then cause him to decrement. The bids could stepdown but only if ARCA was the only one on the bid, but if NYSE, EDGX...

    Question about reading the tape

When ARCA was at 50k did he decrement or was he taken? (did you see a print for 50k on the bid?) Eitherway... It means he pulled the bid... others (NYSE, EDGX ect..) could remain on the bid.. This is common when reading the tape.

    Jinxu's Dow E-mini Journal 2010

Not trying to rag on you here, just trying to show you that you should take a step back and look at your trading for a detached point of view. Where was the second trade? On your chart you say.. 'Had planned earlier to SHORT around this price area. I wasn't paying attention and did not...
