How many scientists really dispute global warming?

"THE FUTURE CANNOT BE PREDICTED" hmmm ..... As an absolute statement that is 100% wrong. I predict night follows day. I predict spring follows winter. Civil engineers predict that the structures they design won't fall down under the weight of gravity and if they follow good practice that is the...

How many scientists really dispute global warming?

Actually the predictions have been pretty good. Going right back to 1988, James Hansen's temperature models clearly have skill. Far better than the null hypothesis, which would predict no further warming. Modeling has moved on a lot since then as have computational facilities. Which is...

How many scientists really dispute global warming?

If humans are changing the dynamics of the climate by increasing GHGs in significant and observable quantities then yes it does matter. It is a new and non natural forcing in climate that wasn't present during previous periods of climate change. Under such circumstances, it is barely worthy of...

How many scientists really dispute global warming?

That is only a statistical observation of some past climate changes. When humans were not emitting large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, and other factors initiated change in climate. It is not a fact relating to physical mechanism and there is no reason at all that it should always be...

How many scientists really dispute global warming?

You are just looking at statistics and ignoring the physical. 1. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. This is a fact. It has been known for over a hundred and fifty years. Denying it, is like denying gravity. 2. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is rapidly rising. Also a fact. 3. That humans are...

best linux platform w/ multiple terminals

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "logged in from multiple places". IB TWS will accept multiple client connections for a single account (up to 10 I think) from IP addresses that you nominate. If you want to do this remotely you would probably want to set up an SSH tunnel or such like for...

    Hangseng Leadership...

Price is wandering along the developing market profile lower value area. Amazing how "technical" it is sometimes. Maybe players are waiting to see which way it goes. This chart has constant volume (150 contracts) bars:

Haitian Earthquake. Where are those loving atheists with their wonderful philosophy?

There are numerous non religious aid organizations including the Red Cross/Red Cresent, Oxfam, UN agencies etc etc. There have also been over 300 Cuban doctors working in Haiti prior to the disaster. No doubt there are some atheists, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and whatever else in these...

The mini ice age starts here

Leading climate scientist challenges Mail on Sunday's use of his research "It comes as a surprise to me that people would try to use my statements to try to dispute the nature of global warming. I believe in manmade global warming. I have said that if my name was not Mojib Latif it would be...

I cant find linux friendly API

DTN IQFeed works perfectly under wine on Ubuntu - including 64bit Ubuntu. The "API" is just a TCP connection with simple messages and is easy to code to. I understand that DTN Nxcore also is fine on Linux. InteractiveBrokers TWS also OK on Linux.

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

Correct. A larger number of extreme weather events of higher intensity are mentioned as likely consequences in the IPCC reports. Nobody is making this up as they go along. Intuitively it is not difficult to understand why this may occur. Higher temperatures are due to increasing energy in the...

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

So lets have a little hypothetical. Supposing we are scientists with multiple data sets. One data set is well out of line with the others. Furthermore, the dataset that is out of line is obtained with observational methods that are known to be less precise and reliable than the others. Our...

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

And let me explain it to you. Trenberth wants to better know where the energy is being stored in the climate system during the natural cycles. Is that terribly hard to comprehend? See - just one sentence can sum it up. A bit rich for a denialist to suggest that further research is not needed...

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

No they are wrong because they do poor science. That's why the majority don't agree with them. There's this little thing known as Occam' Razor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor That is when they get around to do any science at all. Most of the nonsense coming from the likes...

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

Google is wonderful thing. With a very little effort you can find out that paleoclimate temperature reconstruction has been done using several proxies other than tree rings. For example: http://www.skepticalscience.com/Hockey-stick-without-tree-rings.html But as usual the denialist trick...

Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

Well, you seem to have done a pretty good job of cherry picking and telling the world what Trenberth meant. Why don't you read his paper which you can find here and see what Trenberth is talking about in his own words...
