This has to be the worst advice I see repeatedly. The market gives few enough good trading opportunities, arbitrarily stopping trading is just ... foolish. Trade when the market allows you to trade within your parameters, don't trade when it does not.

Triangle formation at tail of Osama reaction back to the 5th. Nexus around 1338. Trend uncertainty until this resolves.

I'm thinking something above 1356 as a short. We can retrace to 1340 or 1327 without changing the bullish outlook.

Why do you think the days midpoint is a good indicator of anything?

I don't think that matters unless there is some volume confirmation, which we don't have. Personally, I am looking for short setups around 1298, that is the 3 day low (we are upside down from there) and the overnight low. There is also plenty of time for that to work out. Probably high...

ES TRADERS: Interested In Tick Size Change?

Like Handle123 I started trading in the 80's. I also miss the smaller tick. I do a lot more analysis of limit order v. market order than I would otherwise. I remember when the eminis were a rumor. The way they got the market makers, i.e. liquidity providers, to buy in was to offer the...

Went long 1328.25 looking for a big trade, but than noticed the tick momentum went extremely negative, meaning high probability of testing lows, so exited at 1329.5. Real time trades automated on twitter.

There's probably someone in London saying "look here chap, we buy the FTSE on the close and sell on the open, works 90% of the time ... those Yanks are really dumb".

Pretty clear triangle today, this on top of 7 days of range compression. http://share.esignal.com/groupcontents.jsp?folder=&picture=201104075minTriangle.png&groupid=705

Markets just swinging around 1328.25. The 3 day mkt profile shows that as the peak volume, and I've traded off that too many times. At the beginning of March we had that real obvious triangle break on the 10th. This is almost the same thing, should break any day now.

Isn't that contrary to the premise that there is low volume? It seems like the 'smart money' is out of the market or already placed their bets.

Some tips in Trading the ES successfully

I'm not sure how I misquoted you. My point was simply different strokes for different folks. You elaborated on why your style of trading suits you. That's fine. I too started trading in the 80's. Back then you may remember the 'conventional' wisdom was that unless you were in the pit...

Agreed, but really does not look good now. I went long from 1328.25, saw two big tick / buy readings (659 and 700 on esignal) without a breakout and closed 1328.75. Does not mean it won't break up from here, but the first big tick should have broken out of 1329.5 imho.

I'm going to tell you what you don't want to hear. It means very little. It could mean one more break out and the shorts will cover frenetically. It could mean there is some weird holiday you don't know about. It could mean bulls are tired and will take a break for a bit. So what is your...

Some tips in Trading the ES successfully

Like most generalizations about the market, you are just wrong about this. Everybody has their own style. My testing shows that going for the home run on every trade nets more long term than the quicker exit. I challenge any trader to look at their trades last month, when you want the...

    Multi-threaded Charting

I currently use esignal 10.6 which supports multiple instances, so I currently have 4 winsig.exe instances running in an I7 quad core. Very fast but expensive. I would like to switch to NT 7, and have looked into it closely. I assumed that since it was a new release, it had to have...

    Multi-threaded Charting

Try esignal 10.6. It is not multi threaded, but you can open several instances. I have an instance for each symbol I follow. Very fast on quad core I7. I would stay away from vers. 11 for now.
