    Inflation Effects On Dollar

"Don't confuse genius with luck and a bull market", maybe? That would be John Bogle, the founder of Vanguard, who's been fond of saying that through the 1990s. But when it comes to Greenspan, I can't help but think of the song lyrics, Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill.

Watch Me Win the September Contest

Congrats! You've now set an example that will ruin many a forex newbie's account. :D What next? Why, a trading journal here on ET, of course. What's fortune when you can have fame and fortune? BTW, your 2nd maximum drawdown calculation is correct, 11%. DD is not linked to...

What country has the best Forex traders

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia... fabulous locale for many reasons, sure. But best timezone for trading fx? Only for those who like the Asian session, really. Or maybe for night owls attracted to the early US session. Those of us who prefer the opening hours, the first half of the...

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

No. The original quote is correct. The moment you've opened a position, both your unrealized P&L and your net asset value are down the full spread, 3 pips. All closing the position at any given price does is transfer unrealized P&L into realized P&L. The NAV itself doesn't change.

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

Your effective leverage on day one is 24:1, not 200:1. 10,000 EUR/USD x ~1.20 / USD 500 = 24 That's still many times riskier than stocks with 2:1 - 4:1 max leverage. Even taking into account many stocks' greater intraday volatility than any currency pair. You wisely didn't specify what...

Unless my eyes are playing a trick on me, what I see on your chart is a descending, non-linear channel showing a 700-pip CAD rally within 5 days. What does this chart mean?

Which FX broker? An illustrated answer.

That statement needs to be parsed. :) - "the first" - no, that's marketing BS. IB was a latecomer to retail forex, and a number of ECNs had already been there for a long time. - "interbank quality spreads" - I was never an institutional trader, so will let others comment on that. Within...

Which FX broker? An illustrated answer.

Your thinking is correct: their users' consensus is that Oanda is, in fact, above board, when it comes to (the absence of) price manipulation and stop running. Anyone can explore their (uncensored) message board and see for oneself. However, if you must employ a tight-stop strategy (a bad...

    $100 laptop.

The MIT Media Lab people just might have been inspired by a book by Po Bronson, published way back in 1997, about creating the $99 PC. It was made into a film by 20th Century Fox in 2002: The First $20 Million Is Always the Hardest It's a fun flick, easily living up to the promise of its...

Which FX broker? An illustrated answer.

Yes, one would think that ("...the most to lose..." part), yet one would be wrong. As it turns out, the "name brand" online forex shops need not care about their reputation (yet), because: 1) they advertise heavily and seductively in print and online... it's all "commission-free", right...

Which FX broker? An illustrated answer.

Then what are you still doing with them? Demo or not. Rather than keep asking existential questions (albeit interesting, over a beer or two), maybe taking decisive action would be a better thing to do, both for your confidence / comfort level and for your bottom line. You know, the...
