Easy 270 Electoral Votes for Romney

Add to that the fact that Rubio was raised and baptized mormon when he was younger. That is just too much of a distraction. But.... in this election, whoever wins Florida, wins the White House. The gamble might be worth it for Romney.

    Zimmerman - Guilty or Innocent?

You're right, but who was the 200lbs guy in this scenario? Zimmerman was 5'9" and 170lbs. Several years ago he was evidently bigger, but not anymore. So we have a tall skinny 17 year old and a short, slightly pudgy 28 year old. I would think that Zimmerman would have a slight size...

Mitt Romney Shows Record Shortfall in Personal Popularity

BTW, I don't mind you using polls to support your arguments either. But when I look at polls, i must see the methodology too. For me to take it seriously it has to be likely voters, and it must be proportioned in line with national demographics. According to the most recent polls I could find...

Mitt Romney Shows Record Shortfall in Personal Popularity

I said that. Multiple times. And it is currently happening. I'll say it again. If Obama doesn't have at least a 10-point lead in the RCP average in November, he will likely lose.

Mitt Romney Shows Record Shortfall in Personal Popularity

The real question is what if AK's numbers are all correct? How is it that the guy with the highest popularity shortfall in history is now polling dead even with or slightly ahead of Obama? BTW, I think someone around here predicted that as soon as the primary was over the nominee would see...

    Zimmerman - Guilty or Innocent?

I don't think you've examined the actual evidence. Either that or you have evidence that the rest of us aren't privy to. IMO.. manslaughter conviction is less than 25% with the evidence at hand. Murder 2 is almost 0%. Liable in a civil case... hmmmm... not sure, but still unlikely...

    Zimmerman - Guilty or Innocent?

+1 Not enough public evidence. It actually seems to me that the prosecution was trying for one of two things with the affidavit. 1) Put the onus of a lesser charge on the court while maintaining their own public appearance. If they had gone for manslaughter then a conviction would've...

    Zimmerman - Guilty or Innocent?

Not nearly enough reliable public evidence to establish guilt, especially for second degree murder. In our system, innocent until proven guilty. AFAIK, there are four eye witnesses, two during the "scuffle" and two immediately after. There are several ear witnesses. In court, the main...

Mitt Romney's Maids' Salary Raises Questions

I fail to see the difference between a dog in a kennel mounted on a roof rack and a dog in a kennel mounted in a truck bed. Nobody thinks twice about loading a dog into the open bed of a truck though. Non-issue for me. I mean sure it is fun to joke about, but it really is inconsequential...

Mitt Romney's Maids' Salary Raises Questions

+1 I'm in same situation as you tomdavis. Cleaning company comes in once every 7-10 days and cleans the entire 5,000 s.f. in about 4 hours @ $30/hr. We pick up after ourselves for the most part. They are just there to vacuum, mop, shine, dust, etc... Ends up being about $5-6,000 annual...

POLL: How do you think the Supreme Court will rule on Obamacare?

The thing to keep in mind for all those who hate the bill. You might think it is bad with the individual mandate, but it is much worse without it. Striking down the mandate but upholding the rest would be keeping the expensive stuff and eliminating any method to recoup the expense. Consider...

POLL: How do you think the Supreme Court will rule on Obamacare?

I agree, but that should not be a consideration of the court.

POLL: How do you think the Supreme Court will rule on Obamacare?

+1 It is not within the power of SCOTUS to comb through it and pick out parts that should remain. That would make SCOTUS the de facto legislative branch. The only reasonable outcomes are to uphold it or strike the entire thing down and make congress start over. If congress can create a new...

I'm sorry I voted for Obama

Not trying to bag on you here, but this paragraph is the disturbing reality of many in this country in 2008. Especially the second sentence, "thought it would speak volumes for the nature of this country to finally elect an African-American as a President". Countless business studies have...

Romney's fundraisers are quietly amassing millions

Super PAC are going to have a huge amount of influence though. I think Romney has a big advantage there. Obama has a small donor advantage, although it is nothing like it was in 2008. There is only one first time for anything, and then many of the activist small donors dry up. It has...

Romney's fundraisers are quietly amassing millions

Yep, it will end up probably at about 3:1 because Obama will likely get to about $750MM. The ratio would be even higher if there was an accurate way to account for all the "free stuff" that the Obama campaign gets. Not that I fault Obama for that. It is just an advantage for the incumbent.

Romney's fundraisers are quietly amassing millions

No such thing as transparency at that level of government. Anybody who requests it is dreaming. Anyone who thinks they are getting it is completely naive.

2001-2010 warmest decade on record: WMO

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with warming. On the high end of the estimates, there is a projection of 3mm rise per year. It's not like one day everyone wakes up and there is a 10ft rise. I hear people talking about a 200' rise in sea level, but those are completely ignorant...

How do you distinguish between the belief in God and the occult?

That's where I disagree. I think it is a big stretch to jump from unneeded to non-existent. What if in fact our physical laws are somewhat unique to our own universe, and gravity as we know it only functions here? What if there was a creator that "invented" gravity? We then prove that...
