    Big celebration today ...

YUP, back then it was called a Series 51. Probably doesn't exist anymore, folded into the Series 7. One big advantage of selling stocks and bonds to people is the emotional feedback. Nobody wants others to loose money. (not normal people anyway) My Series 51 and Series 7 days are way behind...

Anyone else STRONGLY disagree with what the Fed is doing?

I don't think that's the problem. I think that the Credit Swisse liquidity problem is the real problem. Pensions funds trading on margin?? WTF. With the ZIRP (0.00%) policy, pension managers have had to scramble to get yields/returns. Credit Swisse took a big shortcut (being on margin). Who else...

Anyone else STRONGLY disagree with what the Fed is doing?

OK, but this is not innocent screwup. The FED and the Treasury know the score. They cannot auction off bonds at 5.00% or 6.00%. Government is already maxed out on interest expense.

Anyone else STRONGLY disagree with what the Fed is doing?

I don't think our current inflation has anything to do with stimulus handouts. I think its from a paucity of bidders (at 4.00%) at the Treasury auctions. Inflation is 8.00%. Who wants bonds at 4.00%? So the FED is rolling a lot of the notes and bills themselves. And increasing the money supply...

Russell Napier: The world will experience a capex boom.

I think the "dead wood" in American IT is just a reflection the massive distortion in international trade caused by the U.S. Dollar as the reserve currency. U.S. economy gets a free ride as other sovereigns trade in dollars. It's a legacy system. Foreign sovereigns are looking for alternatives...

    Direction for stocks and futures:

OK, maybe for some. But I definitely like to know if this is a bull move or a bear move, even for scalp trades. I always like to know the size of the risk.

    Direction for stocks and futures:

Everybody is talking about support levels for stocks. How about we back up. How high can yields on Treasuries go? Riddle me that. That spills over into stocks. Trade accordingly.

Must read for serious investors and traders. Napier is the man.

real reason for the Bank of England's gilt market intervention

A liquidity issue?? OK. But they have a much bigger problem, like why are they in a MARGIN ACCOUNT ? The pension fund is using leverage. I have a pension account (401k). It's at BAC/Merrill. Cash account is type 0 Margin account is type 1 Assets on margin (acc. type 1) are hypothecated (loaned...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

I think the reason why they are not used in military applications is because whatever energy solar and wind offer, it is just too miniscule to be used to kill people and break.things. Maybe some day, but not now. Military applications of machines are massive. Just watch Jay Leno's Garage. He's...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

Yes, a strong democracy is necessary. Unfortunately we are rapidly losing that too. Yes, I know the common belief is that the U.S. broke the German Enigma codes first. Not sure that is true. Rather the British Navy was first (1940?) to capture a functioning U-Boat. The boat was in a battle with...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

Hey Vic - are you sure about that. Japan attacks on Dec 7. FDR declares war on Dec 8. And then there's a dozen German U-Boats shelling the East coast four weeks later. You really don't think that U.S. INTEL didn't know German aggression was dead ahead. Churchill certain knew about it...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

LIke they way Murray, "History is written by the winners". But I'll tell ya. That swearing-in photo of LBJ looks like he's ordering a cup of coffee. Something big is missing here: Just need to add, in late 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, and INTEL was very very likely aware of the huge...

    Big celebration today ...

Noted higher up in this thread, Treasury rates needed to make new highs (in yield). Today they did. Big outside day. Bond Traders getting faked out. Stocks, bear market continues.

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

War mongers: Within weeks of FDR's famous speech on Dec 8, 1941, German submarines (U-Boats) were attacking the East Coast of the U.S. Anti-submarine batteries were installed along the coast. Some can still be seen, southeast Delaware, and Cape May New Jersey. In just the first half of 1942...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

Dealing in "Statecraft" (what the Secy of State does) is like dealing with family relations. Very difficult to understand unresolved issues from decades ago. That's in the best case. And in the worst case, decision makers are pressured by other domestic issues (price of gas, elections, etc). At...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

In addition, U.S. was able to prevail in WWII. One of the major reasons for that was U.S. financial position. Ten years after the 1929 crash, most of the debt had been removed. Compared to today ? U.S. doesn't have cash to pay Social Security, but we should spend Billions fighting Putin? WTF...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

At a high level I am astonished at the lack of respect here for the dangers of war. I'm a peacenick? I'm a fan of the Russians? Some of you guys really stun me. I remember going into the popular bars on Friday evening and seeing the guys in wheel-chairs. Friends. Stock market is slightly...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

Well yes, the huge bloody part was engineered by the DEMs. Eisenhower '52 (non-political but finally Republican) was already warning about the Military-Industrial complex. Ike fully knew the folly of War for the sake of War. IKE was only sending "advisors" to the war zone. For the young folks...

The collapse of Western economic system and the curse of Central Bankers

Well, the rumor mill back a few decades ago held that LBJ became a very wealthy man. His wife already had bucks (radio stations), so he was just playing catch-up. And the rumor was that LBJ was the recipient of large "gifts" from defense contractors. Along with 52K deaths, the armaments bill was...
