No man, it is not ridiculous at all, and it should be expected. The reason?? Well, just look at who is the FED Chairman: Bubble Ben. Bad news? stocks up. Good news? stocks up. Medium news? stocks up. Bubble Ben is using very questionable and dangerous policies IMHO, keeping the crazy...

Interesting. I can't have sex when I am seriously stressed. It doesn't work for me at all. Running used to be one of my favorites too, but I'm an old chap now, and my back hurts (thus I walk). Have a great weekend everyone. let's see if this market "throws rock" again on Monday (see my...

My favorite way to deal with stress is a power (very fast) walk, normally for 1 to 1 1/2 hours - I am a new guy when it's finished.

This market totally reminds me of a character called "the rock" on the (mock) documentary "flying scissors" http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Flying_Scissors/70129848 . "the rock" character is a fat guy who is a rock paper scissors champion for years, AND HE ONLY THROWS ROCK. hahaha. And he...

Major banks reportedly masked risk levels

Will ever any of those bigwigs from this banks going to be punished? The SEC and this government are a shame on enforcement of the law in wall street. The SEC never catch the big guys, including Madoff (even with tons of denounces), but they certainly throw the book at you small guy if you dare...

Greece to make bond shorting illegal??

Martinghoul, thank you for taking the time to answer that. So, if I understood you correctly, what the Greeks banned was failure in delivery at settlement, thus avoiding people to sell bonds naked (without borrowing, etc), right? If that is the case, then the Greek's decision is right in my...

Greece to make bond shorting illegal??

Never. I have never traded bonds of any kind. I assume you get a short position and have to deposit margin on it, like a stock.

Is Greece a Microcosm of what is going to happen in the USA?

Exactly! Zimbabwe, maybe, default, no way.

Well, anyone can make a prediction like that. "Stocks are going to hit 1270 but are due to a 10% decline soon". Anywhere the market goes they can claim they were right. haha.

Greece to make bond shorting illegal??

If I am being ignorant here, I would gladly change my opinion if you could explain to me (and others in ET) why is this not accurate. Please.

Greece to make bond shorting illegal??

It is real. You can still short it but have to repurchase at the end of every trade day. Geez, Greece is pushing all the wrong buttons. I think this will spook the market and kill liquidity. see link to reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSLDE63729N20100408

Volente, you are in a hot streak. Thank you for your posts, and thanks for all people posting here, ammo, eko, fat, etc. PPt working at full force. Greece is going down quickly. It's going to be interesting to follow up the facts in the next weeks.

Greece situation is very serious. Bank runs, and exploding yields on their bonds. I love that the US mainstream media just ignores it. You'll see if they default, the consequences. Keep that in mind. I think we will see more red tomorrow.

Greece cds at 410.44, possibly some banks there are going rout. A breakdown with volume at spx 1182.50 may be very significative.

The Fed is buying. The banks are buying, thanks to the ridiculously low rates (they borrow from the fed and buy stocks). Bubble Ben wants to fix a bubble with another bubble. And the worst the news get, the most they prop up. Today there was some terrible news from Greece (CDS at 392.45, NBG...

I see your logic. But remember that 2008 was also a BIG election year, and look what happened (and at the worst time possible for the party in power).
