The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

I mean that we "DID NOT LOSE AT ALL", if our account is down 50% during the time of 50% down of index. It happened in 2008. Furthermore, when index is up 50% and if our account is up 50%, then we "DID NOT WIN AT ALL". It is since stock market is zero-sum. Of course, when index is up 50% and...

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

I heard that, in 1930's more than 10 years also, the index was still down. Possibly, it was ALWAYS up for the past 400 years (stock market appearance), for ANY 20 years period.

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

It is my mistake, just trying to mean "enough time". Sorry for that. Most person has 50 years of equal period (from 30 to 80). I should agree that even index could be minus, for SOME (selected) 10 years as above.

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

Of course, 10 years might be too short. Follow Buffet's record, for 50 years or so (More than 4000 times of the initial seed.), as shown explicitly at http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/2015ltr.pdf

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

One of best strategy is hold such as SPY, for 10 years. You will NEVER lose at all, since SPY is same as index. Furthermore, You never(almost) pay commission at all, and does NOT pay tax in SOME country. Similarly some does NOT use any air-conditioner or heater, to follow living in outside...

    Anyone involved in China?

No one knows how and when they will open the stock market to foreigners. The housing market is already open. By capitalism principle, China cannot continue to close the stock market, like North Korea. There might be some alternative way, such as investing by a company (instead of personal...

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

Furthermore, if one can spend 50 years(from 30 to 80), then 1)With annual compounded return of 20%, your initial seed shall be 1.2^50 = 9100.438, like the case of Buffet. 2) With milder condition of annual 15%, your wealth will grow 1.15^50 = 1083.657 times, no matter seed is 10K or 100K. For...

The Recipe to Reduce the Risk.

For example, if you find a logic "Out of 100 trial, win 80 times and lose 20 times/ with equal amount" Then probably you will be a long-time (consistent) winner, even after expense(comm+tax). On the other hand, if win 60 times and lose 40 times, then you will be a loser, after long period. You...

    Low commission for retail traders

I agree that broker requiring ONLY phone should have hidden reason. Similarly if some home cam company offers free use, then the company may sell personal shot at bathroom from you, to others with profit.

    Low commission for retail traders

Everyone has all different opinion. For me, one best way is to fresh-format frequently. Unfortunately, some OS does NOT allow frequent format by users.

    Low commission for retail traders

Most agrees that phone trading is "MISERABLEY INSECURE". PC/laptop trading with frequent OS-formatting may be securer than phone. I do not prefer phone or some OS that is intentionally hard to format freshly.

    Low commission for retail traders

Good to hear that 1) For possible electricity/internet shutdown, we need to prepare always an alternative such as phone trading. 2) Prepare at least several brokers for sudden commission change.
