    Futures Contract Risk Exposure

As long as your stop is hit at the level you have it at, then you'll be fine. And if daytrading futures, this is the normal pace of business. HOWEVER, stops that are market orders, tell your broker, get me out at this price (or worse) at the market! Look at a daily stock chart and find...

    Futures Contract Risk Exposure

About which part? In the majority of the time, the broker's software will liquidate you at/near your account value in a worst case situation. As I said, in theory you could be on the hook for more but w/ advances in software that is not likely. You'll note that this is usual or standard...

    Futures Contract Risk Exposure

Brokers software now will liquidate you at/near/close to your account value. They will not let it go into default. So if you have $20k, your max risk is basically the $20k under normal conditions. In theory, you are on the hook for whatever the loss is but since the futures trade round the...

In search of e-mini s&p broker

http://www.openecry.com There's a nice following of OEC on here. If you are going to start testing demo's, you might as well include them on the list. Live accounts get data and charts included, which can be a nice $ saver. Also nice to pull up a chart quickly of a market not being traded...

Are Brokers Stopping you from Selling?

Buy and hold/hope broker = your typical full service shop/wirehouse. They get paid commissions when you buy and as you hold, ie buy and hold. So if you buy a mutual fund , they will get paid something up-front normally and then an ongoing fee paid monthly for as long as you own the fund -...

Are Brokers Stopping you from Selling?

Buy and hold brokers make money when you buy and hold. They make zero when you sell.

    Victor Securities.....who are we?

When I was a full service broker, I dodged the 'how much does this cost' question any way possible. Why? B/c I was going to charge a lot. :D Stock trades STARTED at $50 and up from there. Funds, annuities, etc. could easily get me 5%+ up front.

Time Warner Cable and IB Ports

Same situation here in Cleveland. Nice to see that TW sucks regardless of where you are at. lol I was looking hard at AT&T but they only allow so many HD streams at the same time, which didn't work for us. The TVs sit idle for most of the day and then for a few hours want HD on whatever...

Time Warner Cable and IB Ports

TimeWarner gave me some issues recently connecting to Open ECry and once I changed the DNS, it has worked perfectly. http://www.opendns.com/support/category/13

Buying Mutual Funds with Portfolio Margin at IB

Well said. The vast majority of funds do not beat the overall markets and ones that do this year have no correlation of being able to repeat that in following year(s). But the mutual fund/insurance/annuities/etc business is a monster business.

Justice Dept to investigate BCS system

Do they really have to go through this when it's all about the $$$$. Clearly if you show them that a playoff would yield more $$$, it would happen. Until then, there is zero motivation to change from something that makes so much $$$. Bowls are a huge business and I wouldn't want to give...

    Getting Stopped in CL

If daytrading, ask your broker. For example, OEC is currently @ $3375 on daytrading = for every $3375 in your account, you can trade 1 contract (that's using max margin). Each tick is worth $10, so you can do the math from there on what a stop will cost you.

    WTF? Crude 300$?

Yeah, just sounds like bad data. Give Open Ecry's platform a test and see if it works for you. Data is included to live accounts and has been very solid (knock on wood). Data + Platform given to live accounts at no charge, worth a look. http://www.openecry.com

    Anything besides ES?

If oil is 'crazy' then don't bother looking at silver. Other than indexes and commodities, you are basically left with bonds and currencies to keep in markets that are liquid. If you want to trade size but nothing like oil, then perhaps bonds? Those things can sure put you to sleep at times...

    Anything besides ES?

Oil will surely give you a 'fun' ride. Wed is inventory, so pull up a chart and see how she looks. Silver is also moving as well. Just be aware - they say once you go CL you never go back. :D

    CL Redux

From an observer - I've found that when things are on, it can be like taking $ from a baby. Stopping while you are hot but continuing when losing seems a bit counter intuitive, right? Took me awhile to realize that as well. Say it out loud and see if it sounds right - I am going to stop when...

I just got this new scanner and I want to compare what it says to the ET meter

Anyone blindly following calls of your 'super secret' scanner w/ no other information is a fool. If this thread was done by just about anyone else, it would have been labeled spam immediately.
