    Prop futures firms?

May be of some interest with regards to Matrix Trading Group: Actually, this statistic is probably usual for most retail daytraders.

Can a Graduate Degree from Oxford U help me get a salaried position in trading?

You basically had two part questions. 1) Would going to Oxford help you get a salaried position in trading? Answer: No. It may look nice on the resume, but like I stated before, both the degree and institution have very little to do with trading. You assume that "getting discipline" will...

Can a Graduate Degree from Oxford U help me get a salaried position in trading?

I’m unsure as to how it’s done overseas, but here student loan interest is deductible. Defer the loan as much as humanly possible and elect to pay only interest. The interest deduction should afford you a tax advantage at the end of the year while allowing you to free up capital for better...

    Is daytrading here to stay?

The point would be that Jesse L. did make money, and make money consistently, at daytrading. He didn't make homeruns in those bucket shops, but certainly what he did there and what can be done today electronically are the same thing. He had to adapt to a different style of trading when taken out...

    thursday DOWN day for djia

Commercials are still net long in the big Dow and S&P500. Will see this Friday if they've changed their mind, but they've been bullish for the past couple of months.

    Is daytrading here to stay?

E-minis, man, e-minis! The spread on the S&P500 or the Dow almost makes it "like printing money." I'm definitely glad I made the switch. No dealing with specialists or getting pennied to death. Just you, the machine, and everyone else out to take your hard earned cash from your cold dead...

    Is daytrading here to stay?

There have always been "daytraders" of some sort. Jesse Livermore used to "daytrade" in bucket shops that were "instantaneous" fills, although not truly representative of the market. Specialists and market makers are another form of daytraders. Liquidity (and volitility) is enhanced by...

    minorities always crying !!

The assumption being made is that equal and fair rights and priveleges are extended to any and all. This, however, is patently false. Here is, of course, a simply example. Studies have shown that having a "white" name helps you get a job better than having "non-white" name. Its just a name...

I have never seen a better trader than

MM's approach is significantly different from the majority here, I would imagine. From the look of things, its really a fundamental investor approach. See that neat little logo at the top? Its EliteTRADER. I don't need to know what the company does or how its financials are doing. I only...

    EBAY.. short sandwich

As a "daytrader", I have to ask, since when do fundamentals matter? Ever? Do I really need to know what a company makes or does to make money off of it? I look at chart patterns and TA. I know candlesticks, head & shoulders, CCI, ADX, volume, open interest, COT, Auction Market Theory...

    Buy at support

Agree, looks like a descending triangle. Usually, one side will test the bottom and if that fails, the other side will test the other end. The fact is, it looks like the bears are still in control. With a descending triangle, looks like you have limited upside with the downward sloping channel.

    Seasonality Strategy

The New Moon occurs on May 30 PST, the Last Quarter was this last Friday, 23rd. Interesting seasonality phenomenom: lows have a tendency to occur a few days (like 4 days) before the New Moon; panics especially in the October lunar cycle (ie the autumunal panic 58-year cycle).

    THE MARKET WIZARD THREAD

I believe Jesse Livermore, in R.o.S.O., put some cash in his wife's and son's trust with explict orders to his lawyer to NEVER allow him to touch it. After going bust so many times, he wanted to be sure his wife and son would always be provided for.

what should I do?? (another n00b question)...

What TA suggests that this is a bull market? Not necessarily saying it is or it isn't. Think of this is an introductory homework assignment: what chart patterns, price action, volume, economic indicators, confirmations, sentiment, candlesticks, ratios, insider selling/buying, etc. suggests that...

what should I do?? (another n00b question)...

If you actually think you're ready to try your hand at (retail) daytrading... Open a futures account and take on the e-minis, be they the Dow e-mini or the S&P500 e-mini. There have been numerous threads on the various advantages/disadvantages of futures vs equities. In my opinion, it doesn't...

    Seasonality Strategy

Anyone ever consistently employ a strategy based on seasonality? Things like going long two days before a holiday and then selling at the close. The end of the month effect and first five trading days. Or shorting September/October. Or how about SAD and how daylight affects mood across the...
