I too have noticed this ; front months coming down a couple of dollars a day, and back months moving less than a dollar.
What do you mean when you say "the backwardation was trading at x" . Are you referring to a calendar spread?
TOS's thinkmicro interface is pretty slick. Runs on windows pocket pcs and also on blackberrys. Their mobile web interface gets the job done but is a pain sometimes.
Last trading day is "The business day immediately preceding the last two business days of the contract month."
Also, look at the COMEX contract volume to see when volume moves from one to another.
Futures don't have day trading restrictions like stocks do. (Assuming you don't have 25K in your account). When I traded index futures, boy could I churn that account... like there was no tomorrow.. Much easier to blow up with futures.
Anyone got any info about these? They trade on the USFE, which, lets face it, sucks. $1000 contract, sounds similar to hedgestreet. Just wondering if there is any liquidity.
TOS has "level II" quotes, if you can call them that. They list the bid and asks with respective sizes for each exchange. You can also chart options within the software, although the overlay sounds like it would be a problem because typically options trade less often than the underlying...

Traded up to 95.70 today. I must be missing something? Assuming if you short here, even if there was an emergency rate slash, the upside is .20 BP and downside .05 BP . Anyone?
