    SNDK $45 August Call

by picking good stocks and selling premium to offset that disadvantage as well. that said, options are usually better for swing trading. on the other hand, this may change soon -- supposedly options will be trading in penny increments soon. the spreads are bound to come down.

thats expensive. I use IB at $.75/contract no minimum and no ticket charge. i also switched over from etrade a while ago. best thing i ever did, although its good to keep a little cash in the etrade account just in case there are tech problems with IB. Same goes the other way around.

one can do well with far OTM options as a way to play very short term (several day) directional plays on a stock with plenty of leverage. If you can beat time decay, the contract volume can more than offset the risk. The strategy doesn't warrant holding the options to expiration obviously...

I'm surprised by that IV drop. I noticed this -- doesn't make any sense. It seems now more than ever there is more potential 'explosiveness' either direction. Premiums should be going up, not down.

ha.. did every short get out of apple in time? i avged around 66.80 and got out avg 65.75. looks like it recovered nicely so far to 68.16. i happened to also buy some 72.50 calls (august) at .60 since the market's reaction was so unexpected. They closed at .75. this stock has strength...

very fitting. I decided to take a loss on my ng. sold 1 QG 7.27, (previously bought 8.06) - $1980 loss sold 2 QG 7.14 (bought 1 7.50, bought 1 7.66) - $2200 loss I didn't feel like losing any more on this trade. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to see gas in the 6.80-7.00 range on no...

especially since it came up so quick - stocks with this type of volatility often move more on -no- news. (i was really expecting a 10 point move)

    QM spike

I was sitting there watching qg, and glanced at qm, and I saw it at 74.95 - I made a mental note how i sold at that price earlier this week (bought at 73.075) and thought 'back to price without hurricane premium'. I don't trade oil too often this week, so it didn't register with me. I think I...

It was announced too late. There was some selling to 65.00. This is 4 years of incorrect earnings. Even though the variance in numbers may not be big, imagine the possible shareholder lawsuits, and possible liability from potential manipulations that have occured throughout the years...

thanks for this post. how long have you been using this software? Seems very straightforward - just installed it. How much has it made a difference in your performance, particularly better chosen entries and exits?

What's the general strategy for people on this forum?

Remember, no matter what anyone says, buying stocks in small lots is not investing, no matter what your time frame. It is 'trading', or at best 'trading with a dividend'. ie Buying 1000 shares of AAPL makes no impact on Apple as a company. It provides no cash to Apple to grow with. It only...

tough day today: Here's how it actually went. In late trading, I bought 1 qg 7.66, 1 qg at 7.50. My average long is 7.74 for Sep qg 3 contracts. Woke up to find a selloff. I am holding this position long, but entering no more until I have a clear signal either way. I consider the nat...

pattern of high volatility in ng questions

natural gas is doing some very goofy swinging around lately, especially in low volume trading. First off, I'm trading only miNYs, but I have some questions perhaps some more experienced traders can answer: 1) what looks to be happening at night is that the price is pulled to extremes. The...
