Well we got the pullback to the UVA that I was looking for and got filled. But straight away I knew the trade was in trouble - lots of pressure on the bid. The market tried to bounce but failed at the bottom of the gap. I pulled my second entry order and moved the stop up to 10920. I was happy...

Jason, I absolutely concur that the large specs are profitable in Nat Gas. The small specs are always net long, so they make money in rallies and then give it back. They break even. Given that futures are a zero sum game and the Nat Gas commercial hedgers do hedge forward requirements (ie...

Looks like the YM wants to open right at my initial entry price so I'll bring entries back to 10935 (HVA) and 10925 (POC) with a stop below suport at 10890. But I'm going to work that stop to ensure my risk/reward ratio stays in-line. That is if the action looks real weak I'll work the stop...

cvds, The pink and blue lines are derived from the volume profiles. The VP's are the horizontal histograms which show total volume at each discreet price level. Scroll up the thread a bit for some sample charts. Blue line means a volume peak (ie: S/R) and pink a volume valley (ie: a price level...

The YM is looking like the most interest play from the open again today. It managed to breakut of the 4 day consolidation. The others didn't. Here's my MP chart for it. Yestarerdays action was a bog standard range explansion day. It opened near the lows, traded higher and found value...

Thanks xxxskier. Agreed on Steidlmeyer. Dalton is an excellent read. If you're a glutton for punishment you could tried Jones work on ODC (Cisco Futures). He's a bright guy but I just don't get it. Maybe it's just me. Ordinarily I avoid chat rooms because they get me second guessing my...

Now here is something you may be interested in. Then again maybe you won't . Who cares it's my journal and I'll post whatever crap I want. Anyway in my regular job we track stuff like COT data, seasonal tendencies etc as part of the asset allocation process. There is some interesting...

Thanks guys. However, I must confess to being a mental midget when it comes to Excel. I do most of the smart stuff in Matlab, then paste into Excel for presentation. Today was a great example of how using a wide stop on day when you suspect you may have the wrong bias gives you room to work...

I'm putting on the opposite trade on the ES. Buying at the volume peak @ 1278.75 with a target at 1282.50 (LVA) and a stop at 1276.25 (POC from 1/26).

Hey thanks Arb. Here's an interesting setup that I'll be looking for today on the YM. Yesterdays action was fairly bearish across the board for the equities, altough some of this can be attributed to Fed meeting madness. The YM is currently quoted on Globex at 10851. That would put the...

I’m kicking off this journal with two objectives in mind ….. 1. To encourage further discussion about the practical application of Market Profiles. 2. To get me back in sync with the markets (hopefully) and determine if my old techniques still work. The discipline of updating a journal...

I have an evaluation copy of an excellent charting/trading package that is developed in Germany. It is targetted at institutional and high-end traders ($$$) but it is first class. Far superior to TradeStation in many respects. And it's all .Net architecture - bonus!! FWIW - they have an...

Best PM Futures for US Traders?

FGBS, I trade out of Singapore - but through a fund and not as an individual. I can tell you that personal income tax is very low (~15%) and I believe the IRS was/is offering tax breaks for futures traders. Singapore is quite agressive about attracting liquidity providers to the SGX. They...

TF, Thanks - however I think that link should be: http://www.chart-ex.com/chart-index.jsp What feature tells you the levels where the various parties are buying/selling. I can't find it? Have a look at the chart I posted - this shows the activity for the commercials over the last few...

    Wheat

With the commercials so heavily net long I would hate to bet against them over the long term. However, the last half of Jan is traditionally a very weak period for Wheat so you have the seasonals working for you. I've been short wheat since early 2004 - but I'm getting nervous. Good luck.
