JPM and Jamie Dimon Are Serving the Free Lunch

Your last two posts just show you have zero understanding on the mechanics of OTC derivatives. Please just stop unless you have further proof that Citi or any other govt sponsored entities are in fact underwater on those derivatives trades with JPM.

JPM and Jamie Dimon Are Serving the Free Lunch

Do you have any numbers that support your claim? Maybe JPM is showing a net loss facing Citi/AIG. Maybe they have call in enough collateral to cover potential defaults? Posting gigantic notional exposure on a company's derivatives book is taking things out of context. Some hedge funds can take...

    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

I manage to short SKF before...very similar. If not, go long FAS. There are also options on XLF for leverage. Although, I see FAZ and SKF is more of a vehicle for reversion to the mean type trades.

How to hold a winning trade?

This would be my thought process: If I'm LONG, I would ask myself: "would I buy at this level? if so, where would I set the stop (or how much would I risk)?" - if the answer is yes, I will move a stop to where it would be as if i enter a new trade. if no, just get out.

    $700 trillion phony instruments

The $700 trillion is notional amount, and the PnL get change hands b/w two counterparties. It's a zero sum gain game both side is willing to play. The hedgers who sell risk probably benefited while the speculators that bought risk are all in the craphole (no talent HF managers/badly managed...

GE Really Is In Danger of BK

    1. Banks lend against hard assets (houses/cars). 2. Lending divsion is a big division of GE. It was able to mask its losses because it's not a bank and therefore, it is not required to mark-to-market.

    How cheap is 500 for the S&P 500 (price/earnings)?

Take estimated earnings/price....that would give you equity yield. compare that with investment grade yield. If you get a much higher yield, then stock is relatively cheap.
