    IB should I accept bust

The fact that it is going to arbitration gives you an advantage. If it was out of Instinet/Islands obvious error parameter (I believe it is 3% for stocks >$15) then they would bust it automatically. Having said that, I'm not sure if the technical problem IB experienced may have caused the...

    Instinet/Island

I found the answer to my own question (if anyone cares...) Please see the following link: (Oct 1st press release) http://www.island.com/prodserv/developers/resources/emailarchive/20031001.asp If you look near the bottom you will see: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? We are committed to...

    Instinet/Island

A few months ago I read somewhere that Instinet and Island would be combining their order books (probably using Island's technology). This was suppose to take place in a roll out schedule sometime in November. I just checked their respective websites and did not see anything. Does anyone...

    Merger Arb Spreads

Not sure what you are talking about here. The FCC officially voted on this deal on Sept 22. I believe this came out after the close. http://biz.yahoo.com/djus/030922/1847001282_3.html The stock last traded on Sep 22. So the last regulatory hurdle still existed when the stock last...

NYSE OpenBook crossed during market hours?

Alan, Your first source is IB. IB is wrong. For some reason they don't show the "real" NYSE OpenBook. They have programmed it so that they don't allow the bid to be greater than the ask. The reality is the bid is often > than the ask (your second feed is correct). This source will give...

    overnight access to equities/futures

Let me revise the question: Are there any brokers (besides IB) that allow pre and post equity access AND 24 hr futures trading? I would have expected all brokers to provide this direct access - however many execution platforms turn off access to the futures markets at 8 PM EST and don't...

    overnight access to equities/futures

Besides, Interactive Brokers, does anyone know of a broker that has electronic access to Globex and ACE overnight? (Many platforms shut down at 8 PM EST) Besides IB, does anyone else provide access to Instinet before 7:30 AM EST? thanks.

    B/D Registration: Series 7, 24, 3, 4 & 27

thanks. My counsel has advised me that I will require the 24, 4 and 27. They are all required when setting up a B/D. thanks for your reply.

    B/D Registration: Series 7, 24, 3, 4 & 27

If you have passed any of these exams, I would like to know how long it took you to study for each? (self study) In particular I'm wondering how difficult the series 24 and 27 are. (I'm told that the 27 is very difficult and many actually retain a service to provide this) thanks.

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

http://www.wallstreetandtech.com/story/electronicTrading/WST20030717S0005 I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that the BOX's original PIP rules were anti competitive. Oh and as predicted, there already is at least one other Exchange waiting to implement these same internalization...

Does IB ever respond to e-mails?

misc, If you have multiple monitors - try moving the TWS to the first monitor and see if this helps. (this has happened to many) If this is the problem then once the TWS is moved to monitor #1 - then you should be able to subsequently move it anywhere else. good luck.

    Blackjack - counting cards

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but there is a great book that came out last year. It is called "Bringing Down The House". It is the inside story on how MIT students took the casinos for millions (in the 90's I believe) mainly counting cards. A decent read. Perhaps a movie some...

    question

This is exactly what I was worried about. The only distinctions would be the Series 7 requirement and that your capital is not covered by the SIPC. I wonder if this is enough for the regulators??
