Wow thanks. One more. Can the regular market open down more than 20% and get immediately halted? I e can it open 33% down?

But the SPY is basically the same as the SPX. a few days ago the SPY was down about 9% pre market. So if the SPY is at -25% at 9:29 won’t the SPX be there as well resulting in market being shut for the day? Since it exceeded the 20% ? Thanks for replying.

No price protection exists in the pre-market for stocks. no circuit breakers, no ban on short sales. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!

We all lose.

But only for futures. Not for stocks.

But do they function outside of regular trading hours? Ie pre market? Why not?

But it can open 40% down. This rendering the 7%,13%,and 20% breakers useless. As it is already 40% down.

Isn’t that a big Weakness of circuit breakers on stocks? They can open below all circuit breakers.
