Mark Douglas - How to think like a professional trader

I hated his books and found them miserable depressing and unhelpful. I have traded profitably for 17 years with a few down years- when I started to read this kind of psychology stuff. If I'd had a trading buddy I'dhqve made millions- that is the key, I reckon

What Nassim Taleb Did on Black Monday 1987

I don't feel bad for the dumb money- it just piles up in my account . Hedging dynamically is not for modest traders like me and I pay UK commissions so I have to think twice before adjusting-so far only once this year

What Nassim Taleb Did on Black Monday 1987

If you think options are just simply bought and sold in isolation then you do not understand options-stick to penny stocks. NT was at one point the most prolific options trader in the world, and of course tail risk is mis-priced, but we don't know in which way. I have seen puts go from 3 to 300...

How to Blow $12.2 Billion in No Time Flat

Investment is the term we use for trades that went horribly wrong- trade options, use your brains don't rely on dumb luck, because the CO of that corporation you like, will one day get caught with his fingers in the till/lying/having a love child with his secretary/ pleading insanity/ having a...

Can I hear about your worst trades ever?? Everyone will freely talk about their best ones...

Ironically I was short calls that day- and the F closed down only 75 points- the market doesn't give a rat's ass for people dying. No-it was a period of the market going up solidly for over 2 years- like 2016/7 and then taking a hit -February my trade went a tiny bit underwater and I paid up for...

lost £19,000 on UK FTSE short puts in 2005-just pulled the plug on the trade- 3 days later the market had made a'V' bottom- I could have avoided the loss totally by not panicking. Had a broker trae futures for me- that was a disaster. There is a reason they are not traders despite their inside...

    Properly "spreading" with real spreads.

A calendar trade ends when you close out one leg. Personally I don'tlike them as vega is a fickle mistress, and trading some months out really is a lottery. Naked shorts cost time, opportunity and margin. I post real trades for a UK website much to be learned even for me after 18 yrs trading.

The guy with the big expense account seels to the pension funds - the sale trader who has no idea what to do when the market tanks.Thankfully they will have a massive bank account and perks-all courtesy of the dumb money

Looking for a new trading strategy. Totally decimated trading ICs in this raging bull market

I trade UK index options and for at least 3 years ICs have not been workable. On stocks they are a disaster in my experience. Trading credit spreads stopped being the game a while ago. Debit trades, sadly for us premium sellers, is the way to go. Remember we trade relationships- vol can get a lot...

How to Lose 93% of Your Money… And Be Happy About It It has been a disastrous 10 years for 'short' f

The smug twats who think they are geniuses will get their backsides handed to them-like they did in 2008,until the bank of mummy and daddy taxpayer baled the next bunch of muppets out. Remember the economy is based on increasing debt. However this article doesn't mention options-which were...

    Complete options trading system

Interesting but options are multi dimensional -I just stick with what I'm comfortable with, knowing my risk-I've been looking at automating trading but the problem for retail players is getting the prices you like
