    Unrealized capital gains!!!???

This entire discussion describes 3 issues: 1) the Fed gov is totally buried in debt, with little hope for a respite. 2) the top tax bracket has most of the wealth, supplemented by the top sliver of "baby boomers". 3) The distinction between income tax (1040) and Inheritance tax (706) is...

    Unrealized capital gains!!!???

Should be "the estate has the right to put the bond"

My bond strategy...Does this make sense??

I think you have pretty much nailed everything, Mr.Cabin. Any investment that shortens an enjoyable life is not doing its job. Three month T-Bills are fetching close to 5.40% at Schwab. "A bird in the hand ..." I think the unthinkable (higher rates) will become thinkable. I think we can hit...

One Gap closed on the ETF OIL tracker

slight bullish divergence on the hourly See what happens in a few hours. For the record, I am just long (LTCG). No scalping, no swing trading.

One Gap closed on the ETF OIL tracker

Right. But some kind of "suction" below. That downtrend line from June 2022 calling the shots here. (much different $WTIC to USO) Shorts working hard.

Where to start studying economic indicators to understand the economy?

5.00% 10 year is killing most equities.

Where to start studying economic indicators to understand the economy?

Probably a lot of half measures available, but the "Bible" for fundamentals is "Security Analysis" by Graham & Dodd. Warren Buffett's favorite. You can likely borrow it at your public library. I have a copy in my bookcase. Never read it.

What causes difference between simulated trades vs. real executed trades?

I've been at it long enough (several decades) I don't do simulated swing trading anymore. Everything is live. But I have moved up to an "Investor" now. Easier on the taxes too. All LTCG, qualified Dividends, etc. (My main trading account is after-tax $$'s, low 7-figure)

What causes difference between simulated trades vs. real executed trades?

Simulated trading tries to approximate the real life situation. But it may fall short. I remember having dreams (or better nightmares) of one trading strategy from years ago. I probably had margin maintenance calls. The dreams involved me going feet first into a woodchipper. True story. Paper...

Looking for a few good men/women

Point and Figure charts don't have time on the X axis either. Which leads me to believe the OP thinks he is on to a new method of TA. But his method is obviously shrouded in mystery. If there was anything succinct to it, e.g. an "aberration of human nature", the OP would explain it. That's the...

Money (and Stonk Trading) Never Sleeps .... soon?

That would make such a former Series 7 person close to 100 now. But I do recall one guy in the first BD I worked at, he apparently never took any Series 7 Exam. Seems things were much more informal back then (late 40's-50's). Pretty sure the NYSE would close on Wednesdays in the 70's. Have the...

    SEC is tracking your trades

Yup They are collecting the stuff the FED can't counterfeit, like cars, gold and silver, crude oil, cocoa, etc. In other words the basics that do not intersect with "financial engineering".

    A martyr to the cause

We are way beyond "Stocks and Bonds". The cheerleaders (CNBC, etc) call it "Financial Engineering". But it's just financial razzle-dazzle. It's not creating any wealth, just the illusion of wealth. And I don't care what school they went to.

    A martyr to the cause

The link for the second article may contain some kernels of truth. For example, seeing the crypto-curriences as a scam, a hustle. But that is not novel. What is novel, somewhat, is to view investment markets, securities industry, as regulated, safe for "widows ans orphans". The first head of...

That is fueling the collector car industry for many years, recently also the collector coin industry.

    The EV transition is real

Yeah, but the battery in an EV weighs 1/2 ton. Comparing it to a cell phone battery doesn't really work. Municipalities in the U.S (very "trendy"folks) are embracing this fad. And I call it a fad for a reason. The self-combustible batteries are going to bite some group of people in the butt...

Houston Would Welcome BP and Shell

Everybody wants to charge forward with the new technologies, leave behind the stuff from our parents, grandparents, etc. Problem is, we don't really know if any of this stuff works (full load test). And if it doesn't, then what? "That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone." ... Big...

    The EV transition is real

I suspect that Insurance Companies have not voted yet on this new technology, but I am sure they will have an opinion. Imagine parking an EV in your attached garage to charge it, and it self combusts? Jeez. From 1 year sgo: Lithium-ion battery fires are happening more often. Here’s how to...

Big night move up in CL

/GC had a spike as well, at 21:00 hours. Old time traders call that a probe: explore the paucity (or not) of sell orders above the market.
