24" Monitors on Nvidia Quadro NVS 285's?

That quote might be in reference to needing a high end card to run games at the monitor's full resolution.

New video card or new computer

Last Friday I built the new computer and am using it right now. So far the problems are history. CPU usage hardly even spikes past 30% where I was getting 100% before (on heavily traded symbols). All four cores seem to be spreading out the load even though I highly doubt ScottradeElite is...

Which PCI/e slots will work for a graphics card

PCI-E x16 is the one to use when using only one card. If you needed to add an additional card you can use PCI and, less commonly, PCI-E x1. But PCI-E x16, which dethroned AGP, is the interface most commonly used now, and will also have the best card selection.

New video card or new computer

In less than a year this quad-core will be less than mainstream. Right now two cores would be more than adequate, but who knows what additional program(s) I'll be running tomorrow. Is your system AGP or PCI-E?

New video card or new computer

I've got no problem using old AGP cards like nVidia FX5900XT and ATI xt850XT. I can easily rotate, change resolutions, change positions, extend, clone, or whatever I need to do. I'm only using two monitors. I don't think this newer card will be a problem.

    Modem problem solved!

My ISP controls the firmware updates. I looked into that first. They don't even list my old modem as "approved" anymore so maybe it needed updating and wasn't updated.

    Mix of AGP and PCI-regular

I've had both AGP and PCI cards running at the same time. The AGP was nVidia, and the PCI was ATI. So it is possible for different chipset manufacturers to be run simultaneously on the same computer.

    Modem problem solved!

(This is totally separate from my previous posts about freezing charts and problems with Charter.) For a long time I've had my streaming Java charts sporadically "fall asleep", where I had to refresh them or reconnect to get the streaming going again. I was using a 3 year old Ambit...

    A dual-DVI 8600GT that will cost $103 AR.

New video card or new computer

I've ordered all the parts to build a quad-core system. It should be built next week sometime and I'll update with the results.

Charter cable speed problem (out of the blue)

Thanks. I just got through and there's now a message quoting they are aware of and working on the problem in the St. Louis area.

Charter cable speed problem (out of the blue)

Aside from having to call yearly to threaten to move to DSL to get a decent rate, I've had no problem with Charter's service or speeds. (I'm in the St. Louis area.) I can't remember the last time service was interrupted. Last night and tonight I noticed pages taking way too long to load. I...

New video card or new computer

Sunggong, What are the specs of the CPU you're using now? Is that x1950pro AGP, and what card did you upgrade from? I'm afraid if I only upgrade the video card I'll still have 100% CPU usage spikes and all the freezing. But I'm getting by OK by using two computers.

New video card or new computer

I've got both my computers running with the router and this fixes the problem completely. The ScottradeElite computer gets 100% CPU usage spikes, but doesn't freeze itself. The Java computer barely reaches 50% spikes, if ever. I'm gonna buy a new system anyway soon; I gotta say I have to...

New video card or new computer

Alright, thanks then. I'll try to get used to two mice/keyboards before I try Synergy. Thanks to all for helping me solve this problem. Matt

New video card or new computer

But the Router I bought, which is to share the cable internet for the two systems, will also serve to connect the computers to each other, i.e. for file sharing, & mouse/keyboard sharing. (Even though I can build a computer I don't know much about networking.) Edit: I was refering to AAA's...

New video card or new computer

The router part and sharing the internet connection I get. That's why it's ordered. The thing I'm asking about is sharing a mouse/keyboard between the two. The router is for internet connection only, right? Or if both computers are attached to the router is this all the connection I need...

New video card or new computer

Before I take the plunge into a new computer I am going to try the dual computer idea that gnome and sandygray have suggested. I just ordered this 3Com 3CR858 router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833105049 ...and I went to the Synergy/SourceForge page to learn...

New video card or new computer

2 x 1GB CL2 Patriot Ram running in dual channel @ the rated 400Mhz. I've also tested both modules on several occasions because originally I had to RMA a bad one. The video card is 256GB, 256-bit DDR3. It's only two windows of TotalView. I also have just 4 Java streaming charts with up to...

New video card or new computer

I don't understand the "Internet Explorer" requirement since ScottradeElite runs as its own program, but you know, I logged in with Internet Explorer 7 later in the trading session instead of with Firefox and it seemed to be going smoother (The Java Charts anyway). However, this was near the...
