That would be my guess. I can't use IB at work either but I can use the Java based quotes from Island.

I like to see volume swelling as part of a buy/sell signal. I don't know what the professionals here think of it and I haven't seen it in any of the 30 or so books I've bought but I notice a stock dropping fast on increasing volume.. down... down... down... then it levels off the trades slow...

No formula for it. Just watch a 2 day chart. Does it break above yesterday's high? Go long. Breaks below yesterday's low? Go short. After the first 30 minutes if it breaks above the open... think long. If it drops toward the low of yesterday and pauses and buyers come in... think long. I think...

I tried to use the CBOE pivot formula for a while (the same as your's) and it worked... but I find todays open low and high and yesterdays high and low are more widely followed. Good Luck

I've tried to read everything Ken has written at thestreet.com. I did a trial at his chat room a while back. I wasn't ready at that time to trade their way... I didn't have the right broker and services. I like his methods.

I'm using qcharts package for real time charts and prints. I am in the process of changing from Scottrade to IB for a broker. I actually like qcharts WHEN they work... I notice that when their charts are down my streamer from Scottrade is down as well. They may both be using the q feed. Thanks
