Under $25k traders should NOT go Professional

OK... I agree futures and options are the future. Where does one go to learn the ins and outs of this form of trading? Books... Videos?

    QQQ Traders?

Kempo, thanks for the info on Don Miller and the QQQs. I am trying to get my focus down to about 2 or 3 plays / setups a day and have been trying to incorporate the QQQ. Thanks and Good Trading

    QQQ Traders?

Kicking, have you considered doing options on the QQQs?

    QQQ Traders?

I like the idea of trading the QQQs but I'm not sure about what to use as an indicator. Today I charted my basket of "Hot" Nasdaq techs and watched the QQQ follow them up and down. It was easy on paper. ;)

    QQQ Traders?

Anyone just (or mostly) trading the QQQs or the Spiders?

    For the under $25k traders

Maybe it's just an IB thing? I was told that you can only trade options in a margin account. No margin accounts less than 25K therefore no options. Maybe Def can tell me the truth about it? You there Def?

    For the under $25k traders

At IB you can only trade options in a margin account. So if someone has less than 25K in their account their account will be converted to a cash account and they can not trade options either. Correct? This all sucks!

New Daytrading rule in September 01'

Def, if one trades the 4th time in 5 days and the last trade returns the accout to 100% cash, can the "offender" request that account be closed and will IB issue a check for the account at that time? Or will IB hold the cash for 90 days?

    Easiest Stocks for New Traders!

Liquidity concerns trading DIS? It averages 5 million a day. Hmmm? I studied on DIS yesterday and saw the big buying at the close and wondered how much he'd gap it down? Nice. Question: Does the specialist for DIS (in your experience) use the same "play book" over and over? I found that Ford...

    Easiest Stocks for New Traders!

What is it about DIS that makes it easy to trade? When I traded F there were a few things I could count on; it turned on pivot points (or withing a few cents), it was easy to get fills and it usually turned or reversed at 10 AM and 12 PM. I don't remember it rallying after noon. I never made...

    Easiest Stocks for New Traders!

Do you think biotechs are easy for new traders? I would have skipped Ford, WY and CMH if I'd known.

    Easiest Stocks for New Traders!

Starting out trading can be very consfusing. I think new traders need to follow 1 or 2 stocks for a month or so before adding any others to their basket. Just my opinion. The reason for this thread is to put in ONE LOCATION stocks which, in the opinion of others , are good stocks for new...

    Death Blow to DayTraders

Some will likely just put their money elsewhere. The market will lose. Why would anyone allow their account to be tied up for 90 days? If I got down close to 25 I'd put it in something else. Options is one option. I can hear 'em now; "where did the volume go?"

    Trader's Daily Routines?

I'm trying to get a set routine down that I follow to start every trading day. It goes something like this: 9:00 PM Check Briefing.com for late stock news and Island.com to see the effect of the news on after hours trading. Update Support and Resistance points for stocks in my basket...

    Trading Breakouts

<He might have meant breakdown>... hmmm? I'm note sure what he meant but I've been shorting stuff that appears to be breaking out... it just turns out that it usually doesn't continue up. It tops out and turns into a nice short scalp. Check out the 1 minute charts for most of the tech stuff...
