    The ACD Method

Maverick or anyone else here: What's the best way to learn this methodology? I have the book but it's been a while since I have read it. Is there something beyond that?

Counties are so desperate they choose gravel over asphalt

I live in Michigan and it was pretty obvious this was going to start happening. However, I heard a few years ago that the state funds roads based on length of road and not use of the road. Typical gov't waste and a stupid way to do it; hence the result.

That's sad. I spent many many hours browsing there.

Setting up a mutual fund rather than private offering...?

Interesting; I have not seen that. Good luck with your fund and it doesn't sound like you will need to go the mutual fund route.

Setting up a mutual fund rather than private offering...?

I'm just curious but are you looking for a structure that will allow you to advertise your performance, so to speak? How have your experiences with fund raising gone so far and what are the obstacles to it with the structure you now run?

Soros: Gold Is Ultimate Asset Bubble

That sounds like Rogers, doesn't it? He said he never was a good trader.

Soros: Gold Is Ultimate Asset Bubble

I believe he thinks the gold trade is reflexive. He will try to ride it up and then short it when he thinks the market or reflexivity has reached a top.

Deflation followed by hyperinflation is coming.

How about the Fed buying longer-term bonds and driving those rates towards 0? Extrapolate from there and I bet everyone can come up with multiple ways the Fed can implement another round of QE.

Final Round Hedge Fund Interview Question

First, this probably isn't the best place to ask this type of question. With that as a preface, though, my best guess is that they are testing your quality of thought and how well you back-up your reasoning. It's probably best to go with what your analysis shows and try to be as convincing...

jim c., thanks for the reply; how have you been doing over the last month trading this way?

    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

You're right; maybe I am underestimating the scalability. Is there much slippage with the $200 stop size? Also, I am curious what you or geez think would be the top limit in terms of stop $ size that could be traded with this strategy?

    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

I have a question about the ability to scale this methodology. Now, this is not meant as criticism at all because I have learned a lot and the results have been very good. However, it seems that with even a $200 stop as geez used before, a limit is starting to be reached making it difficult...

The Story of Modern Banking & Economic System - For noobs and uninformed alike

So, I guess we just need some leaders who will only increase the money stock along with available goods and services? I guess that's the crux of it all.

If those in control of the currency that is popular will comply, correct?

The Story of Modern Banking & Economic System - For noobs and uninformed alike

The value for gold resides in its use as a medium of exchange. I don't believe that value should be underestimated. Sure paper money is a medium of exchange too, but not one with as much confidence behind it (at least down the road and probably not now).

The Story of Modern Banking & Economic System - For noobs and uninformed alike

I see what you are saying, I believe. I have been trying to work through some of these issues and my own questions. I read something to the effect that if, after the Revolution, the money stock would have stayed constant (and after the big inflation), there wouldn't have been a problem with a...
