    P-Coast in trouble?

PCX Seat Lease Market Collapses Wall Street Letter 03/19/02 Raul Gallegos Seat lease prices at the Pacific Exchange can't fall any lower--they now go for zero dollars. An oversupply of unused seats and a renewed fee imposed on memberships has forced many PCX seat owners to give away...

    NYSE specialist rules...

Act as Agents One of the specialist's jobs is to execute orders for floor brokers in their assigned stocks. A floor broker may get an order from a customer who only wants to buy a stock at a price lower than the current market price - or sell it at a price higher than the current market price...

    NYSE specialist rules...

Specialists are critical to the auction process. They perform a role that could be compared to that of an air traffic controller. Just as controllers maintain order among aircraft aloft, specialists maintain a fair and orderly market in the securities assigned to them. They manage the...

    Backing Away

You probably going to have to use a pricing model as a very rough guide (use the binomial instead of the Black Scholes model). Then you are going to have to look at the underlying asset. Look for any news that could move the asset in the future. Look at the implied volatilities to see what the...

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

Extremely unlikely that the Federal Reserve and the SEC will allow the BOX to have option margin requirements less than the other 5 options exchanges since the contracts will be fungible among the exchanges.

    Quotes for currency options

Try www.cboe.com and request the delayed quotes. I noticed that XCD (Canadian Dollar), XAD (Australian Dollar), XJY (Japanese Yen), XBP (British Pound) all come up.

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

Metooxx, I am totally in agreement with you. The fact that I trade as a customer and not a market maker or broker dealer and seeing offers and bids faded (in unlocked, uncrossed, not fast moving markets) is also frustrating, too.

    Backing Away

Yup, I actually got a bust on a 10 lot yesterday. Uncrossed, unlocked market, no news, no fast market. Pathetic. Anyway, I was thinking that maybe you can "invite' a professor (sort of like the guy from Vanderbilt and I think Ohio who wrote about NASDAQ problems and got the anti-trust law...

    Strange IB TWS

I am assuming that the P&L is calculated as the midpoint between the current bid and ask (at least that is what it looks like for my option positions that haven't traded at all).

    Option commissions

Yes, but the locals trade for their own account. Thus, they make money trading against customer order flow. Firms that execute retail order flow will have the same overhead as a local. However, if the retail customer doesn't trade, they keep on eating expenses. If an option contract trades on...

    IV Column in TWS???

The IV column is for implied volatility. It will be blank for stocks (obviously). It should have a figure for option contracts (though anything really deep in the money or deep out of the money will be blank, too). The IV column will be useful for at the money and near the money stuff.

    Option commissions

But the difference is that there is an ITS (intermarket trading system) which allows any stock exchange to hit out a bid or take out an offer. As of today in the US options markets there is no mechanism which allows this. In the futures market, crude oil still trades on the NYMEX and not on...

100 % increase in options volume / IB quote

Buying calls at the end of the move down (panic selling) may appear to be a great play; however, since all options are most likely pumped up with so much juice, you get the upward move that you anticipated. Unfortunately, volatility contracts as the market moves higher and the profit you thought...

    Option commissions

Before there was multiple listed options, you needed to get a membership for each option exchange to trade options. In the old days: (1) the CBOE would let you trade the SPX and OEX (2) the Philly would let you trade DELL (3) the AMEX would let you trade INTC and MO (4) the P-Coast...

    Backing Away

Just remember though that since everybody is treated with parity, there will be no more 10 up (or 20 up or 30 up, etc.) guarantees for customers. Instead it will be what you see is what you get.
