What is the chances Wednesday is an up day?

In sharply up/down weeks, I notice Wednesdays are usually reversal days. So, if it follows the usual pattern, up.

What The F And Where The H Are We?

Today is the eighth day in a row that NYX has closed lower. Looking for a technical bounce tomorrow, so I covered and am long for tomorrow's action. But after that, it looks like more downside. I'm anticipating selling after tomorrow and going short again. Reason why this is relevant for this...

What The F And Where The H Are We?

Precisely. I figure we're within days of a final shakeout, if it hasn't already happened and we just don't know it. Sentiment is awful, which is of course a good thing. You can see the bear rotating through the sectors, but taking down the investment banks, who are at the center of this...

What do you expect at the next Fed meeting June 28th/29th? RATE HIKE?

Ah yes. The manipulation explanation. Back in the real world, the 10 year will be oversold on a long term basis, far as I can see, when it gets to 5.35% or so. I sold the utilities a little while ago in my long-term account, and will probably look to begin getting back in if this yield level is...

What do you expect at the next Fed meeting June 28th/29th? RATE HIKE?

The long-term potential growth rate for the economy is about 4.5% in my opinion - 3% for productivity growth, if the economy is left to its own devices that is, and 1.5% for labor market growth. There is, therefore, no justification for rates to be higher than 4.5%. All this does is cut...

I now declare the NYX trade to be over

A short on this would still be working. We're getting close to window-dressing territory on the calendar now, and this is trading at its lowest levels for the quarter, which means ye average fund manager is going to be looking to rid himself of this if he's got it in his holdings, especially if...

The good ole USO and the GLD

Interesting, as oil price rises tend to lead higher inflation numbers, and gold is of course an inflation indicator.

I now declare the NYX trade to be over

Shorting it with a target between 75-76 if it goes with me, but I'll cover if it goes over 83.20 on the other side. Excellent trading vehicle; I've been swinging both sides on it, and only lost anything a couple of times. Mostly I've managed to squeeze it for some money.

    Stocks going through the floor

I have a long-term - two years is the typical holding period - set of models for picking sectors to buy and hold, via mutual funds, or, these days, ETFs. I've sold the following, in the order that you see below, over the past half year: 1 - Europe. As this is partially a play on a falling...

Global warming bill heats up politics

Judicii signum, tellus sudore madescit. Translation: The sign of judgement: the Earth will begin to sweat. Anonymous 4, from the cd 1000: A Mass for the End of Time. As for my vote, if you weren't convinced by the 2005 train of category 5 hurricanes, you probably also...

CME - about to break out?

Have this long and it's been very good to me. Friday was nice, today extremely pleasant. Interestingly, from a technical POV as far as I can tell, we're not yet reaching a point where profits need to be taken. I have a stop down at 529.50, and of course I'm not expecting that to be taken out...

Short Google, MA, AAPL AND RIMM

Well, I shorted GOOG this morning, which turned out very well. It was an ideal day to short it at the open, as it went up on the opening, and ended the day down. Right now, I'm expecting to keep that short through Monday at least. Depends on a lot of different things whether I continue to keep...

Short Google, MA, AAPL AND RIMM

I have no opinion on the others (well, on RSH I have to note I'm amazed it's still around) but I have to agree with the previous on GOOG. The chart is absolutely gorgeous. It has gradually come down in volatility while consolidating at its highest range, between 450 and 500, plus or minus a few...

    Do Trendlines work?

The group I work for did remove uncertainty from the space we are using to trade. Clearly, this is logically impossible. NOW is to the left. Physically impossible. One cannot both be in the future and in the present. You say these things, and expect, nay demand, to be...

    Do Trendlines work?

I'm not saying that Mandelbrot isn't good. Merely to be clear about what it is about him that is good. And, considering that fractals are harder than Stats 101, would fractals reward you with more money for the extra effort than Stats 101 would? For instance, and someone else somewhere in...

Whoosh! Not a lot of reading for comprehension around here.

    Do Trendlines work?

No one can remove uncertainty from the space. Degrees of freedom are needed precisely because that sentence is true. But you knew that, didn't you?

fox "bulls n bears"-the worst show ever!

I go from macro down when I choose stocks. It was one of the reasons I paid attention when he recommended CMI. You seem to be able to conclude quite a bit from things not said. An interesting talent, but not one that will make you anything.
