    What do you think

I have some strategies (also daytrading liquid stocks, mostly reversion-to-mean type strategies) that were fine in 2006-2008 and died when the volatility died around April, May, June '09. Lack of volatility? Lack of liquidity? Lack of retail participation? Effect from QE/stimulus? I don't know.

If you read the journal you would know 300k is $$$ size not shares. To balance small/medium/large positions it only makes sense to talk $$$ not shares.

Best options strategy for a 1 or 2 dollar gain within 5 days ?

The first step is to learn about implied volatility. Sign up at ivolatility.com to chart the IV and see how it moves. Say you are bullish on a stock, you should also form an opinion about the IV: If IV is low, traders aren't expecting much movement. If it explodes upwards, the IV goes up and...

Thinking too much while the computer trades

This is ironic, because just yesterday I was thinking about stupid or embarrasing things I have done over the years. So I tried to tell myself it is silly to even think about it. Then I realized the reason it bugs me is because I still have those same bugs, I still do lots of retarded things...

Building a TradeEngine, need syntax advice!

I started with option #1 but ended up doing it vertically because sometimes I had many parameters and horizontal became messy. For example I set up a strategy: Strategy1 thisStrategy = new Strategy1(); thisStrategy.stock = stock; thisStrategy.size = 50000.0; thisStrategy.useStop =...

200,000 traders around the world have already chosen InstaForex

I have an idea on that .... 200,000 traders, 3 pip spread even on EUR/USD, 13% interest is for actively traded accounts. A little incentive to trade like mad, and they share the wealth if you will. I'm just guessing, but it could work.

Integrated video makes it seem like a low end chip. But 6 CPU cores, and people who will never use 6 cores will pay $$$. :)

IB : the end of excessive messaging?

I didn't get an email, but I do at least 20:1 ratio trading ES via the API. As you have illustrated 10:1 is ridiculous. The real-time margin checking on a Universal account would be a big calculation, I bet they have a poor implementation that basically works but is much slower than it has to...

IB : the end of excessive messaging?

10:1 is quite low. This is the reason I made my original decision against using IB for stock trading. It is an IB policy - the only exchanges with such a tight limit would be the options exchanges.

    Developing a profitable system(infrastructure) on a (pseudo-)random data

For the purposes of this thread, I think all will agree that randomly optimizing systems on random data (or even price data) is useless. But for my purposes - I am using calculated datasets which may actually contain an edge.
