    Fictional trading book

Are there any good authors that write fictional books that have to do with finance or more specifically trading? (Besides Stephen Frey) i.e. kind of like an easy reading Grisham book about trading?

    trading movies

I completely agree about your take on Rounders... awesome movie. I often compare trading to poker, especially trading listed stocks. When trading listed stocks, I'm constantly trying to figure out if the Specialist is bluffing while I'm reading the tape.

    crash

It is unbelievable how orderly this sell-off is.

    crash

There has not been a selling frenzy yet, like the insane buying frenzy we saw in early 2000 just before everything turned.

    crash

This market just feels like it is going to have a meltdown similiar to what we saw in '87. I don't know about anyone else, but I keep trying to catch falling knives.

    Best or Worst Trades Ever

Back in May of '98 i had been following the riots in Jakarta very closely, primarily because I had been heavily involved in trading Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK), which is the principal provider of telecommunications services in Indonesia. I was heavily short TLK during the riots. I sensed...

Is the market one huge ponzi scheme?

Remember those investments back in college where someone would ask you to invest in a pyramid and once you where able to find a certain number of people to invest below you, you would move up the pyramid. Eventually, if you got in the pyramid at the right time, you would move to the top and get...

    Buy-side traders out there?

I have 7 years experience trading, 4 of which were spent on an exchange. I have been consistently profitable, but less so lately. If you have the experience to get in the door, but don't have the contacts, how should I go about trying to get a job as a buy-side trader?

Do you want to know how to make money trading?

Bono, it depends how you interpret being patient. To me, it means waiting for the setups you look for before entering a trade, and not forcing a trade out of boredom.

Do you want to know how to make money trading?

Follow these rules and you should be successful. 1. Do not take extreme positions. 2. Sell quickly if the stock does not act as anticipated. 3. Do not be afraid to buy back quickly if the stock continues to act exceptionally strong, even if it is higher. 4. Do not ever become overly...

BARRON'S: Barron's Mailbag: Bring Back Fractions

actually, i believe nobody has benefited. this has definitely not benefited the specialist's. when we trade in 1/16ths they could easily make 6cents on most orders, and 12.5 cents when we traded in 1/8ths. it has severally hurt traders and i've seen no benefit to the public.

BARRON'S: Barron's Mailbag: Bring Back Fractions

obviously there are several reasons for the decrease in liquidity. i believe that the change to pennies is just one of the exacerbating causes.

BARRON'S: Barron's Mailbag: Bring Back Fractions

there's actually some common sense behind this theory. there are way less market makers these days, which causes a major decrease in liquidity. i'm sure a major reason people are no longer willing to make markets is that the profit potential is no longer there. i'd rather pay the spread to...

    hedge fund in LA

I have been trading for 8 years with a very successful track record. I started on the floor of an exchange and now trade a proprietary account. I have not had a negative gross month in 2 1/2 years. Does anyone know how I could attempt to get my foot in the door of a hedge fund?
