    Bright, what is the catch?

Very few people use L2 at Bright, some stare at charts. Don't know who uses a black box, (most are the standard grey putty color:D ). However, there are some who use automatic order entry based on parameters and also those who use FirstAlert (www.neovest.com) for filtering and identifying...

    Bright, what is the catch?

As a member of Bright, from the start you can get 10x intraday, 5x overnite. As long as you show that you're not risky, you can increase that pretty quick. There is no haircut up to 6x on HEDGED positions. For example, you have $100K in the account, $300K long and $300K short. You have a...

    NYC Expo Get Together?

10 blocks!?!? Ok Limbo, having "local knowledge, how 'bout you select a suitable place for us to gather. Some place more "real" with reasonable drinks and room for our group. No official count yet, but looking like about a dozen so far. I think anything within a few blocks walk would work.

    NYC Expo Get Together?

I'm familiear with McSorley's and it is a classic (I did a few years in Manhattan), but it might be easier on the out-of-towners if we had it someplace closer to the expo.

    NYC Expo Get Together?

Sounds like we're getting a group here! Let's take a few days to get a few more hats in the ring and we'll decide on time and place.

    NYC Expo Get Together?

I'll be at the Online Expo in NYC Feb 16th-19th. I figure that there will be other EliteTraders there and was wondering if people would be interested in a group get together to put a face with a nickname. We'd need a time that would be conducive to the most people (outside expo and...

    New Elite Trader Wishlist

Figure I'd start a new thread since the old one is closed and I've still got wishes<g>. How about having the search engine display specific threads where the found text is located? It's tough to search through a 20-page thread to find the reference that the search engine did.

Need a recommendation for a NYC firm

Shortee, I work with remotes at Bright, so maybe I can field this one. The fee for remote traders is $200/mo. If you trade over 200K shares in a month, you get the fee back. Basically what you're getting for the $200 is: 1. Use of RediPlus quoting, charting, filtering, and order...

Need a recommendation for a NYC firm

Nitro, First, let me say I'm not an accountant, so don't take this as accountant advice. I understand where you're coming from because one night I sat down and did the numbers. I used an income that would allow a person to put the maximum amount of $ into a tax-deffered retirement plan (I...

    NYC Home-based Traders

Unless your current commission structure is fantastic, I would think you'd be able to get lower costs with a firm already in existence. There are a boatload in NYC.

    Choose Bright or Echo?

Based on the conference call when they announced the merger (there's a link to this recorded call somewhere on the web, but I'm not sure where), it sounds like this is going to happen: There will only be one ECN, it will be called REDI but it will use the ARCA technology with enhancements...

    classified adds

All we need is a forum called "Classifieds" and 2 subcategories: Services (ie stock pick sites, mentoring, custom programming) Products (ie software, hardware, books) If someone has a product they want to sell, they can just include a link to an E-Bay auction.

    Series 7

I and many traders I know have used the PassPerfect course with excellent results. I highly recommend them. BTW, watch out for "used" study material. You want to make sure it's not too old or it won't cover the new daytrading margin requirements and that could kill you on the test.

    Worldco LLC

I think the key here is "the hunger". You'll often find that those who have no alternative will make trading work for them where those who have a fallback (career they can go back to, trust account, other business) will have more trouble. It's like a ham and eggs breakfast... the chicken was...

    Worldco LLC

Candletrader, I don't see why a prop firm would have a problem with your volume of trading. Don't know what your commission schedule is, so I can't address that. You don't need to be a 100 trade per day person, you just need to trade what style suits you best and if it's 5 trades a day, then...

Actually, Requirement # 3 can be taken care of with speech-to-text software.

    REDIPlus

Hmmm... I guess I need to be more consistently clear on my terminology. I always use the word Redi when talking about RediPlus and Redi ECN when talking about the ECN. I guess I should use Redi+ when there is a possibility of confusion with the ECN.
