Has anyone noticed if the prior day's closing activity has any effect? For example, let's say there was a runup in the last few minutes of the market OR that the specialist marked the stock up significantly on the closing print. Might he need to get short in order to fulfill his obligation...

When I first started trading heavily, I got an Ameritrade account. Trade all you want for $800/year. It wasn't direct access though, but it still worked out quite nicely. They wized up and when the year was over, I got a letter saying they were not renewing the deal.

You can probably accumulate the data in Excel over time by just taking snapshots and then just compare the values on a timed basis. You might also want to look at www.trade-ideas.com. I think they have a way to configure their alerts to identify these items. Cash

Does anyone know the typical average percent of volume traded on the stock market by time of day? For example, there are 6.5 hours in the trading day. 1 hour out of that is 15.38% of the time, but I think that an hour after the market opens, on average, much more than 15.38% of the total...

Level 1 support sucks EVERYWHERE when you have a non-Level 1 problem and know it. Idiots in India can say "Sir, I think you'll need to re-install Windows" just as well as idiots in the US when something less extreme would take care of the problem if you could just get past the Level 1 people...

When you say relative difference, what do you mean? Is that the same as Relative Strength where you are looking for the stock to be stronger/ weaker than the index (S&P for example)? Cash

I agree with moderation, and for carbs, lean to Low Glycemic Index carbs... fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc. I did low carbs to shed some pounds, but can't see doing it for a lifetime. However, my life is definitely "lower" carb than it was because I just feel better that way.

Why not, Throw in a bagel while you're at it and some candy bars to see if you can really invoke a carb-induced stupor. I found that when I went on a low carb diet, my mind became much sharper. So, while I have no drugs, herbs, or supplements to add, subtracting lots of carbs helped me.

The big problem with Paper Trading is that you can't accurately count on getting the prints you see on the tape. On the other hand, you don't want to just throw money into the market willy nilly. It looks like this trader has come up with a solution...
