I think this is a matter of semantics. How can you ever PROVE if there were more buyers than sellers or equal number of buyers and sellers, but the buyers were more aggressive? Can this be measured? And does it matter either way, when the end result is the same?

P.S. Of course, the type of trading you mentioned is super risky. You could easily drop $10K as much as make it. If you're going to load up like that, I wouldn't do it before 10:30am but later in the day and then only if the market has had a big selloff and the QQQs or futures show some...

Oh, but the key is catching the move at the right time! There are many times when the move fizzles out or ends up tanking. NO ONE is right the majority of the time. I'm just answering the question as it was asked...if you were long x shares of x stocks and the market rallies, what can you...

You should make between $8000-15000 if the market has a decent rally (i.e. Nasdaq moves 20 pts.up). On Friday morning before 10am, my seatmate made $15000 when he was long 4000 NVDA, 2000 KLAC, 2000 NVLS, 1000 VRTS. Those stocks went up around 1 and a quarter points each.

Lasting wealth is created by appreciating securities. Obviously, the opposite is also true. In general, everyone pays when securities depreciate. The last sentence is exactly what I mean: make profitable day trades. The time value is not a significant component in intraday trading as it is...

    SuperEgo uncovered!!!!

I've applied some of SEs charts and moving averages (albeit with Fibonacci numbers) to the QQQs and my pet stocks and I must say they've been effective for me. I made six grand today (and I left work before the rally)! In your eye, pal! The joke's on you! SEs insights were useful and with...

You should have been in any and all semis/chips when the rally began.

Sorry, but I didn't mean to offend. But consider this: unlike the stock market, where lasting wealth is created by the appreciation of securities, and which gives all participants the opportunity to gain, derivatives truly are a zero sum game. Derivatives are manufactured out of thin air and...

I have never met anyone who was consistently profitable from trading options or futures. The only ones who make money in this arena are the big options/futures institutions who price and write them. Trade stocks instead. At least there you have a fighting chance!

    Trading Journal - July

Personally, I've never had luck in following the futures when I do momentum trades. If you superimpose the COMP or a market stock (like MSFT) over a futures chart, you'll find that they move lock step with each other and in many cases, the individual stock will LEAD the futures. I think the...

Is the market one huge ponzi scheme?

Trading is most definitely not a zero sum game because the pot always expands or contracts. Also, traders have different time horizons. An investor who buys stock from me at a loss today, can sell it next month at a profit because the stock can appreciate if the company does well. Thus, I can...

Let us all offer a moment of silence for our dear departed friend, Super Ego, whose only crime was to share his wealth of trading knowledge (albeit in a haughty, condescending manner) to his fellow ETers. I was privileged to know him and learn a thing or two during his brief, incandescent life...
