Is data mining for trading patterns impossible?

Is good booking to subject by McCormick and Katz. Much learning there.

Satchel. Bottom line for me is that the wife is screaming at me about why I'm not getting her out of stock funds faster. "It's because I'm always WRONG" I say. "Well you sure were WRONG that foreign stocks would continiue going up if the dollar continued going down" says she. My only defense is...

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

Isn't it lovely! Gold and oil in perfect synch! (Gold on top, oil on the bottom in the attached chart.) Now I can drain the oil out of my safety deposit box, get a smaller box, and just keep gold in it. The rental on that box was killing me! Oil up. Gold up. Euro up. Stocks down. Bonds down...

Run the numbers. Less than $10M in futures lets you manipulate $1.5B in oil daily. Trivial compared to the TRILLIONS responding in the equities market. Makes you think.

    Easiest way to trade gold?

Jack is brain dead. If he'd quit watching his mystical carnals and 'gausians' [sic] and sync and volume ad nauseam, and tune to the REAL channel (oil), he'd see what's going on TODAY. It's all about TODAY. Tomorrow, who knows, maybe voodoo will work again.

In case no one has noticed, the only stocks which AREN'T sick are the MIDDIE's. Bye, bye, NAZDUCK and Small Craps! I'm gone! (SPICKS is next!)

    Mathematics skills for discretionary trading.

I think that all you need to know is how to recognize when insiders are trying to shake the crowd out of a good position and trade against that. The mathematics of that are pretty simple. On the fingers of two hands, usually.

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Equalizer. A lot of ass-muptions buried in that derivation, such as a constant drift and a constand diffusion. Neither of which allow for the fact that a tewn tick change often is followed by a four tick reversal. Help an old man understand your point, please? Is it ridiculous to talk of...

KTMEX. I make a cool grand a day consulting. When I can make that much trading, I will quit working. So far you have failed to show me the way! But I believe that Saint Jack will! "Oh Lord, woncha ya buy me A Mer-cedes Benz! My friends all drive Porchies, I must make a-mends! Worked...

    Mathematics skills for discretionary trading.

I think that mathematics has not a damn thing to do with trading. The setups I see day after day have more to do with making the crowd wrong than any conceivable mathematical modelling. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "The are more forms of manipulation than are dreamt of in your mathematics, Polonius".

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Jack. A fabulous post at page 44! I have done my best to keep your memory alive during your absence. You know that Nwbprop said a few days ago that he was giving himself two months to "get it" before he gives up and goes to B school (at, one assumes, a B school)? You still have time to teach...

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

I think it highly unlikely that anyone here invests, but attached is the Excel sheet I use to keep track of the yields of some common FIDO 401K funds based on their Jackean channels. I find the fund comparisons on the histogram to be illuminating. The major indices are added for comparison...

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

Now that we have Jack back, I hesitate to post a chart, but impulse overwhelms caution. The DUCK looks VERY sick to me. Could we call this a failure to fail to fail to traverse? I think I'm taking the wife out of it tomorrow.

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Oh, Jack! You're back! Life here has been so dull without you! I see that you have invented some new jargon. Please do enlighten us. And give my regards to Wolfie.

Nkhoi. You jest, but if you believe in Old Saint Jack we could have 80 buck oil in 2 and a half years. If that means $50 California champagne I am going to drink myself to death now while I can still afford it. Mike.

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

I did something like that recently. I traded QM just for fun and had buy/sell buttons hot for both NQ and QM. QM started going up and consciously I meant to punch NQ short but I subconsciously punched QM long instead. Would two brains be OK instead of two accounts? I think it must be something...

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

Yup. Jack sent me on the wild goose chase of looking for a leading indicator. Now I have three of them, including oil, not a one of which is as good as a simple volume divergence. Can you believe that as of this writing my NAZDOIL chart has only been downloaded 14 times? I could post the Holy...

Old Possum's Book of Practical Charts

The frivolities of the last few posts beg to be redeemed by a chart. So I will share with you what is keeping me up late. (This is where you look at the chart. Oil is on top, and the NAZ is on the bottom, in case you are chart dyslexic. Sorry, I can't afford the CL subscription, so you will...

BA. No wonder my crotch itches! i ate something on a cracker at dinner that looked just like that! By wasting your time here, you have missed the chrysalis re-emergence of Nwbprop elsewhere, still spouting Jackisms. Exeunt all, I die! Meaning I go back to work Sunday. For a modest encomium I...
