    crazy slippage

Remember those first months when the buyer would actually take the last 50k of his 500k order and limit through 50 cents past an LRP level on New York to get filled... before all the enveloping and LRP boxes came in? I'm saying when 50k displayed is holding the stock down and ecn buy...

    crazy slippage

Interesting how you think these participants pulling the cancel size scam are specialists. Not saying you're wrong but what advantages do the specialists firms have that allow them to pull the scam off better than hedgefunds, extremely well capitalized traders, market makers, etc?

    crazy slippage

I've been seeing lots of size scams lately. When they print more volume than is showing on big bid or offer within a few five minutes bars most likely the block will go with or without the daytrader. Tick yourself out when it prints too much too close, lower your win rate, lower your slippage...

The only book you can read that will help you with scalping is the order book for the instrument you're trading.

    NYSE Openbook Ultra

Of course, but this ultrabook supposedly shows us depth. The NYSE in the LII only shows you the floor man if he's the best nyse bid or offer. From the way I interpreted the link, this may now be possible with depth of market, but only by comparing ultraopenbook to normal nyob, because the...

Interactive Brokers reabtes for limit orders arca

Even on the stocks that trade 3M shares per day, you'll notice they fill ISE last. Sometimes ISE holds a price level up after NYSE NSDQ ARCA EDGE and BATS are filled, almost as if no one can see it. Suffice to say, going ISE effectively puts you last in line in thick stocks - in thin stocks...

    NYSE Openbook Ultra

This sounds like a lot of fun... thanks for the heads up listedguru, if it weren't for you posting this I wouldn't be aware that as of this month with my present set up I am no longer looking at the complete picture. I wonder how the data lag will be with this. NYOB is always behind the NYSE...

Interactive Brokers reabtes for limit orders arca

On Anvil and Laser you can set Arca's to route or not. So it's an IB issue, not an Arca issue. The cost of paying for a route out is worth it if you get a better fill. Most the time when your orders gets routed, you'll find that it was because another venue was offering an improved price...

    How to manage hedge fund

Even when the laws of mathematics kick in and you blow half your investors' money, if you make 20% of the profits on a 27% return on any decent chunk of capital - getting paid annually without risking more than a small percentage, at most, of your networth, for ten straight years - you're set...

NYSE Trading Falls to 7-Year Low as U.S. Volume Rises

Technical Analysis The new venues make it more difficult for technical analysts, who use exchange data to measure demand for stocks. A rally in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index without an increase in volume may fade, analysts say. Last year's rebound in the S&P 500 during September came with...

End NASA, silly Mars stuff and all US space programs = Solves US Economy problems

If by "saved," you mean "violently, unnecessarily, and tragically eliminated," I have to agree with you. Since I think you didn't, I'll have to mark you up as a raving lunatic.

IS it smart to avoid shorting stocks of companies that I love?

there should be no love and hate, only charts and setups. If you "love" a company, i.e. you have a long term upward bias, unless you have some reason to doubt your system giving you a short-sell entry, you should take the setup.

What can I do to learn the most about the market?

Sit in front of the screen every day from 9:30-4:00 and watch the charts, the full book depth, and every print, and keep your eye on the S&P futures, the TICK, and the sectors. Watch whatever stocks are in play that day.

    Let us....

Agreed, amen. My prayers to those who died fighting the British in the revolutionary war. They were fighting for our freedom. Let us remember the 100,000+ Iraqi civilians who have died for the purpose of helping us have expensive oil and a weak dollar.
