Looking for a broker with account rules

I think most brokers have a daily max down, at least the direct access daytrading brokers. The other features I don't think you'll find... and really, you have to learn to sit on your hands.

    Bright Trading's new payout model

I have to say, I don't want to tie up more than $5-10k in capital if I can avoid it and still get full service. I opened up with a firm with $5k and turned the account into six figures... I knew how to trade, but if I didn't have the chance to trade with such a small amount, I wouldn't have...

    Bright Trading Opens NYC Office!

Located on 101st and Broadway. Not quite as nice as the Vegas office. Traders are required to leave their bags outside on the sidewalk.

    Sweeping bids/offers

Don't leave out too many open orders.

Probability of System Theft at a Retail Broker

If anything they'll make a program that buys when you buy and sells when you sell. If all your orders produce double prints on the T&S something is up.

    Bid/ask spread

The orders are displayed as soon as they're sent... it's called depth of market. And the ECNs only make a small fraction of what you pay; if you pay .3 cents to take on arca, the guy on the other side gets a rebate of between .21 and .30 cents, depending on his firm's volume.

    Bid/ask spread

too lazy to explain this, someone needs to step in... but retail traders CAN buy the bid and sell the ask.

Curious, Why did people pay 180's for X ?

look at the chart... they were stuck short... and correct about the move down to 20 as well, however they didn't see the parabolic SQUEEZE coming.

    Limit Order vs. Market Order

Basically you're saying which is better, wait until it hits your target and prints through it or wait until it prints 1 level below your target. If your target is 1 tick too much make it 1 tick lower. If you wait until 1055.50 is reached and you market out you will get printed at 1055.25...

What are things you can do to prepare yourself to trade after waking up?

200mg nodoze pills. Fuck coffee. Set your alarm 30m earlier than you want to wake up, take a nodoze when you hear it, slap it on for a 30m snooze, then in 30m when you wake back up (if you fell back asleep) you should be wired.

Flying first class and not coach, why?

I always recline fully throughout the whole flight. I get yelled at for doing it too early - before the cruising altitude is reached, but I still do it. Sorry guys. It's me you can direct your anger towards.

    scalping and NYSE rebates

Try posting on two ecns simultaneously and see how they fill. Some days some routes fill better in some stocks. If you post on NYSE and EDGX and everytime you get a NYSE fill you also get an EDGX fill then you should just stick with edgx... but if you're not getting as many fills stick with...

    scalping and NYSE rebates

    You are correct.

    scalping and NYSE rebates

I think it's something IB does with options... but it's total nonsense. I post bids/offers on both sides ALL the time, and believe me it's not a problem.

60% of profits going to commissions and slippage

Find a better commission rate, try to see if you can add liquidity 50% of the time, so that your ECN rate goes closer to 0.

    EDGEA and removing liquidity

they charge to add and pay to take... but very small amount, 2 cents per 100 shares. It's almost like a free ecn, except with a very small inverted structure.

"Fat tax" gaining steam in the UK

I was in London last year, and let me tell you, I felt like I was in middle America. They were definitely fatter than the folks here in NYC, and I don't think this city is known for its leanness. Central London (Picadilly Circus) looked like the parking lot of a KFC in Middle America...
