Why are the Japanese day traders so rich?

uh --- if you look at the Bloomberg article, it specifically points out that: 1) He is a "prolific day trader" - the second line of the article 2) that it's his assets, in that his name "appears in mandatory shareholder filings" - as they did for guys like BNF / Takeshi Kotegawa, where...

Why are the Japanese day traders so rich?

a few minutes earlier Bloomberg came out with a story about how one Japanese day trader had a $75mm drawdown i thought it was CIS, but it turned out to be another guy apparently the $75mm drawdown only represented 20% of his personal portfolio so somehow he amassed at least US$370+ million &...

ABN AMRO records loss of USD 200 million on one client

That’s strange, how come they don’t even try to recover the shortfall from the client/ firm? The timeline being so fast seems to indicate they just gave up immediately on collection I mean, 200m is probably no small potatoes even to a place like ABN, so how come they’re not putting a team on this

Serious question - Is there going to be a war?

i meant it as unofficial, de-facto terms with US being most economically and politically powerful country in the G7, it stands to reason that the pres of US is de-facto head of G7 just like how even though all the central banks are supposed to act independently, they are de-facto influenced to...

Serious question - Is there going to be a war?

that's the thing though - "greedy and destructive" on the macro level doesn't always mean people are going to refuse it on the individual level eg. i bet after this whole thing, the concept of Universal Basic Income is going to draw a lot more support. certainly if they're actually given...

Serious question - Is there going to be a war?

sorry that was a bit tongue incheek only but in all reality, like in the markets if everyone else is acting that way, the rational thing to do is to go buy TP / implement stoploss as well if the mob is acting crazy, sometimes it's better to just go along or risk being out of TP

Serious question - Is there going to be a war?

alright, i'm sure many of us are closely following the news regardless of our individual political opinions, there are some patterns that we've all seen 1) Economic fallout has been huge 2) Governments around the world are going into even more debt on top of existing debt 3) G7 countries ex...

What happens if they decide to shut down the markets?

that's the dilemma -- the high vol makes it attractive to trade but the risks are: 1) broker platforms freezing bc of unprecedented volumes, everyone logging in to trade from home and at the same time the brokerage employees, their IT staff also working from home 2) if the vol gets above a...
