Both are reasonably priced. You can get arora report on a monthly basis.
You can also try Cramer action alert.
The real culprits are stops and targets. When you use them your expectancy in the absence of an edge falls. Add commissions and slippage, even without leverage, you are at 10% win 90% lose. Add leverage, you burn quickly.

If you are good at investing, beating the index by 30 to 50% is doable year after

Develop a macro view and keep this view updated. Then derive trades from this view. Many places for macro, the best I have found is weekly market digest at the arora report blog. It is free. The other is macroview by Raul. Or you can read wsj
Ìncrease your time frame. Subscribe to a newsletter with good track record and the one that provides archive and explains it's method.
Study the archives. Then trade along with a very small size.
