1130 - 200 or so is a deadish zone. breakouts don't work as much, stocks which have run a lot often revert back in, and there's more consolidation during that timeframe. lower your size and wait for better setups during that time.

yeah, i read harvey's book about it years ago...and remember that a stock like CMRC might have a 2 or 3 point *spread*. that wasn't one of those biotechs, but same principle...

yes, used datek and e-trade when i started, may have taken on ameritrade early on? my first direct access broker was ab watley, and that's how i first saw realtick. not a soes bandit, didn't know about it until it had been closed up...

i agree with this - when i've helped people along, as a very base, they MUST know about trend trading. it's easier to do, easier to teach, important to know (because so many places / traders do that already), and more forgiving of mistakes. counter-trend requires discipline to get out fast...

i can sympathize with your pain on MXB, if i hadn't decided to play basketball that afternoon, i might have gone in it as well. one thing i've noticed, on some of the trades that are pure RTM trades, is when they go wrong, they can eat up several 'good' trades. in hindsight, it's real easy...

one of the traits which i've noticed in others (and myself) is a seeming contradiction: an ability not to care about money lost, yet to always be cognizant that lots of money can be lost if the the entries and exits aren't properly monitored. if i enter a trade and am trading as i should...

here, i'll give you a chunk of my system. buy/sell tight consolidation breakouts or retracements of strong/weak stocks intraday. sell/ buy stocks that are really far stretched up / down intraday. now, if you use it, you'll probably go belly-up, and blow out either holding a 'strong'...
