If you were entitled to request a bust, and the broker refused/didn't comply with your request, they are at fault. Not sure how you should proceed, maybe get a lawyer.

You might, and will , on occasion, get filled at a good price. You are guaranteed to get filled when your price is wrong. At those times you will take a large short term paper/or permanent loss. That will probably happen more often then your rare bargain.

Plenty of ways to make and lose $ pre and after. Resting orders is not one of them, unless you want to depend on pure luck. One more scenario might be if you are hedging an option position, so you would be booking a profit by trading the stock . Still , you probably get a 'bad' fill most...

As I said, TWS has the current vwap available as a column, you could use that as a reference. Medved trader is fast. Paid version unlimited charts. Many other features. Same developer as the old Quotetracker. TOS is fast enough, and also can do multiple charts. Free with an Ameritrade acct.
